I like Perth and Australia but it is frequently a very close run thing as to whether we should stay here. Given everything I've moaned about recently and the fact that with hindsight I was very lucky to get the job I've got and it could easily have gone the other way, and the fact that I'm continually plagued with guilt about my parents and their relationship with my kids....I don't know....

I havent read the whole thread, but a lot of it is very depressing! Rather than thinking about pure economics, think about the lifestyle you could have. One thing you must remember is that it will be difficult to adjust wherever you go.
We came over with a view of not having a mortgage and now are faced with having one @$500K!. This will still be cheaper than renting! One thing to bear in mind when buying a house is that you must not make the wrong decision as stamp duty and agents fees are huge. (EG Stamp duty on $1m will be @$50K+)
Anyway, think about the beaches, weather, boating, fishing, great place for the kids to grow up, opportunity, less crime, safety, cosmopolitan lifestyle etc.
Think about why you want to come to OZ, then make you dreams come true.
Remember, better to have lived and lost, rather than never to have lived the dream.

The angle I have is the UK on the up in the future or will WA just keep going.
What is going to make the UK better in the future, resources will drive WA for years.
