Have you settled in OK then? We are hoping to go to Mandurah. Do you know much about the place (good or bad - it all helps)!!!!!

Sorry to bear bad-tidings and all that.........Just had a personal message from someone on the dog export thread I mentioned earlier. They've been told today by JAL, that snub-nosed breeds will not be carried any more - with immediate effect. I hope your staffie gets away with it, 'cause our bully won't!  Not sure what we're going to do now.......have to root out an alternative if one exists.

cheers

Stu....I can't help you mate. Maybe have a look at the other thread I mentioned earlier ("This little terror may stop us going" or something like that). Tehe person who started the thread seemed to know the finite details.

I know that PUGS & English Bulldogs are a complete no-no...not sure about the others.

May be worth speaking to a shipping company.

Catherine at Airpets told us this-morning that this 'ban' may be imminent and that it definately applied to Bullies......she may have the full list of breeds affected.

Cheers

You living her premanently now then or you going back to Oz?

Hayley

We'll eventually move back to Melbourne and might even move backwards and forwards between the 2 countries because we really like both and have friends and family in both.

Yep, KL has a nice range of olde worlde shops and a walk through the church yard and to Ruskin's View can't be missed. The Lunesdale Bakery for 'grub' and the Sorrel and Thyme tearoom for a meal are both recommended (we like Booth's as a welcome change from Tesco, Asda etc too). The Devil's Bridge is 14th century so to someone from 'established 1835 Melbourne' that's mind blowing!

I'll post some piccies tomorrow.

Just wondered if there were any other Cumbrians making the move down under? Would be nice to speak to some local people, maybe even arrange a meet?????????????????

I am 24 and my hubby Barrie is 25, we have a 1 year old daughter and a dog!!!! My mam (47 - she will kill me for putting that on) and stepdad (43) are also applying. We sent our visa app in November and we are just waiting for a Case Officer. They seem to be getting through them a bit faster now so with a bit of luck we will be there Sept/Oct. We are hoping to go to the Mandurah area.

Would love to hear from anyone from either end!!!

Hello all you Cumbrians!!!

Iam to from Cumbria, Barrow-in-Furness to be exact.

We have sold our house and i am currently waiting to go in 6 weeks to Brisbane.
I´m living with my mum with my little boy at the moment as hubby is working in Bermuda on a 8 weeks on 8 weeks off basis so just waiting for him to get home, so at this moment im in Benidorm trying to find a bit of heat and get away from the rain in Barrow!!!

Flights are all booked dog is getting sorted (Boxer) just waiting to find out when he will go as sent my cheque off for the permit. Its so expensive its costing us 2400.00 to send him out to Sydney!!!!

Didn´t realise there was so many Cumbrians on here i thought silly me that there was just me and Hilary!!!

Well good luck to you all

Sarah

She is on a Skilled Independant Visa with her hubby (my stepdad) as the main applicant as he is a painter/decorator and he is only 43. She thinks that neither of them will get in as she is over the 45 year cut off age.

Any info from anyone who knows about this situation?

That'll be O.K. if the main applicant for the subclass 136 (skilled independant) is aged under 45. As a spouse your mother is allowed to be as old as she wants. ;-)

Cheers,

Can't you get a new dog when you get here?

We have to find new owners for our dog and cat, I am so freaked out that I won't be able to get accomodation in the UK unless we have jobs immediately let alone having animals to house as well.

I am not one to anthropomorphise have lost too many cats and dogs to the main road or other disasters. But I do understand that people get very attached to their pets but it wouldn't stop me from this huge adventure!

It sure is - we're on the Gold Coast and my hubbie's from Ambleside. I lived there myself for ten years - lovely place to live - shame about the weather:(

My sister-in-law lives in Dendron, near Dalton! Michelle x
