Hello,
Just curious... can you buy more with your salary in Australia than you could in the UK thanks?

Me personally no, others no doubt will be able to and others will be like us. There are too many variables, some jobs pay more there and some pay more here. My feeling is that overall there isnt a huge difference with this country being cheaper overall.

That question kind of implies that people get the sae salary here or there. If your salary in Australia is about 2.5$ equivalent of £ then it feels much the same really.

At the moment it's better but we are renting a half decent place and not throwing all our money into a renovation money pit like we did in the UK!!

Some things are more expensive, especially health/dental care and rent. Some things are cheaper - petrol for instance. I learned to stop comparing prices. Just get a general overall view of what your salary will buy, and then see if the move and lifestyle you want is possible/acceptable.

Living in UK on Aus money - better COL in UK. Standard of living - for me, personally, far better in UK as well (more variety, more to do, better weather - for me - to do it in) but each to their own.

Yup, tho things have increased in cost quite a bit in recent years compared to inflation.
General everyday items are comparable but most 'hobby' or more specialist DIY equipment is retardedly more expensive here than in the UK.
Swings n roundabouts. Altho vehicles are WAY overpriced here compared to Europe/UK/USA.

2nd hand definitely but a lot of new cars are cheaper than the UK - the Triton that I bought recently certainly is. As was my VW purchased 3 years ago
Consumer electronics tend to be cheaper here (compared to UK)
My hobby stuff costs less too
What is expensive in Australia is hardware/building/plumbing/electrical/fixings/paint etc. Way more than the UK. Branded clothes too
US is cheaper for everything - UK and Australia
This is all based on actual cost using current exchange rate. PPP is another story

You mean those giant dog costumes for people are cheaper here than in the UK? Another thing to wave in the faces of the Little Englanders.
