Beer! How much is too much?

Re: Beer! How much is too much?
We have decided to have a break after New Year and is not been too bad so far. When it gets to around 6pm I do pine for a glass of wine while getting the tea ready. It was becoming a habit with my oh coming home from work at 6 and we would crack open a bottle while discussing our day.Now we go out for a walk and can still talk about our day while the kids ride their bikes. We have the fridge stocked up with soft drinks instead.Just wish I could find less sugary ones.
It helps when your friends have similar ideas. The weight issue isnt any issue for me but is for my oh.

It's only binge drinking if you stop, beer is part of the culture, your husband is merely throwing himself full on into Australian life as am I.
I don't think 100 bucks a week is excessive TBH, but if it causes problems between you then get him to try homebrew

I take exception to that - I'm stone cold sober right now and you know how well I like a good drink...... I have even been known to out-drink YOU on occasion!

Its the first one.My weight has remained at 7 and a half stone for 11 years.I could eat and drink all day(which I dont) and not put a pound on.The only time I put on weight is when I was pregnant and thats not going to happen any time soon.

Seriously though, if someone has a problem then it's up to them to hit their rock bottom and do something about it.
(Drink Problem * Nag Factor) = Tears All Round.

Re: Beer! How much is too much?
I've been through the whole range of tactics - partner drinking from the bottle hidden in the desk at work, hidden in the oven, hidden behind the bookshelves, even bottles buried in the garden and only dug up at night when everyone else was asleep. Cask wine was ideal for some of these hiding places, partially empty wine bags don't take up much space in an underwear drawer for example.
No amount of love, support, begging, pleading, condemnation, or straight talking advice will work if the person with the problem doesn't want to know. Took me a long time to learn that one, and its a tough lesson, but once learnt never forgotten.

Some of the casks at that price aren't too bad a taste actually either
I've learnt through bitter experience that this is so true. No-one can make the person with the problem stop drinking, or even admit that there is a problem at all. No matter how strong a relationship may be, only the partner with the problem can solve the problem, and if they don't want to then as you say, its tears all round.

Incidentally some of my underwear looks like empty cask bladders ... I really should go shopping for some new smalls.
