Immediately to the south: Camp Cove - Semi-Nudist Titty Paradise Hell, Watson a name? |
Best beach for Kids in Perth is probably Cottesloe, as there are grassy banks near the beach, the waves aren`t horrendous, and there`s a place to buy food, drink, have a shower, toilet.
Otherwise Scarborough.... minus the grass, but much nicer waves. Not as kid-friendly though, due to the waves. Kids would love Mettems pool, which is further north.... you can go snorkelling and see sand-sharks, manta-rays and good stuff. For all you Ozzie newbies, please don`t forget to wear footwear (you can get special ones) for beaches with rocks and reef.... as you don`t want to tread on a stonefish or blue-ringed octopus.... deadly. So just educate yourselves about the dangers. |
Margaret River.... scary as hell beach. It has these just-below-surface rock/reef formations that force the waves through a narrow gap.... so they aren`t too huge but are immensely powerful. Many surfers have died there.

No-one's mentioned Victoria beaches yet. Are they that awful or is it just too cold to lie on them?

Neil On the West Coast there is Torquay, Bells Beach and all the other great beaches on the Great Ocean Road. Some are quite dangerous becuase of the big waves and rips. Then there are all the beaches heading over the back of Portsea including Portsea Back Beach, Gunnamatta, Flinders and Hastings. These are all local surf spots, so lots of waves and can be really windy on the beach. If you want a more soical beach, try St Kilda, Brighton, Sandringham, Beaumaris and Edithvale. These tend to have the boardwalk and the cafes out the front. Regards |

Neil Have alook at this link for info on Melbourne's Port Phillip beaches http://www.bayside.vic.gov.au/beachguide/listings.htm I been to a few of them and even the ones close to the city are clean and never as crowded as the photo of Manly, Coogee etc. For surfing you need to head to the ocean beaches. When I first saw Bondi Beach I was disappointed - Coogee, Bronte, Maruba etc are all better but less famous. Best beach I've visited so far was 7 mile beach at Port Douglas in Queensland - perfect water, sand and sky - heaven (and only about 6 other people on the whole beach!! The photo of Manly looks like Brighton on a bank holiday - not what I want.) Still to visit 90 mile beach in Victoria. |
