Hi We are going to Brisbane in jan, i am also a plumber, unless that is your codename and you are not really a plumber.If you are do you know any thing about getting your skills converted into something that will be recognised by the Ozzie authorities.

I am a plumber, I emailed someone at the Plumbing Licensing Board WA and received a comprehensive reply. I don't know the procedure in QLD although it must be similar. I first have to apply for a tradespersons registration after which my qualifications are to be assessed by the Australian and New Zealand Reciprocity Association to see whether they are recognised and at what level.
I then need to demostrate a minimum of 4 years experience with references.
If they are satisfied then I am invited to sit a trade test (I am picturing myself doing some pipework infront of some strict plumbing inspectors who are shaking their heads and tutting!!!) and if I pass I get my tradespersons licence after paying a fee of course.
Then its back to college to take plumbing licence exams although you cannot get the plumbers licence without demonstrating a total of six years experience (this includes UK experience)

Of course I could always become a Postman (no disrespect to postmen, I was one for six months many moons ago)

Yep! We fly on Dec 5th too! We are going from Heathrow to Brisbane with Singapore Airlines!
