Hello, I second the socks and underwear for the little ones , loads of PJ and your night gown a big must it gets quite cold at night and I think they are quite pricey here but then we have penny's for those in Ireland

good luck with the move

we didn't stop over flew from Dublin to London,Singapore then to Brisbane

we choses night time flights as hoping the boys would sleep and they did the flight from London to Singapore was 13 hours and flew in really the little ones might get bored and restless our two year old did the 5 and 6 year old chatted to every one,

we brought sweets for the take off
change of clothes for us all
beakers for their drinks trying to stop our little fellow spilling would have been a night mare as you get all your meals together
teddy's and a blanket for the younger ones as my lads love the soft fleece ones we got fleece ones on one flight and these horrible ones on the next me and the kids ended up with rashes were they had touched the skin
oh some thing to make the head phones for the tv screens smaller for the two year old I used a the socks they gave us to try and keep them on his ears LOL

what i didn't bring and wish I did was little surprises for when our youngest got bored he got a bit fed up in the end,

we are on the sunshine coast its lovely staying with friends at the mo and its going ok but im looking forward to our own space I haven't missed any food yet or tea and im so fussy about milk but Ive found it ok haven't noticed a difference actually food is so tasty here the veg and fruit are fab

We went with Westpac - mainly because it was so simple to apply online. You can open an account before you leave (which is what we did) and just arrive within the first 6 weeks with your passport (100 points identity test). We found them extremely helpful.

We got our "handy cards" (atm) within days - and you can do everthing online like at home.

They even rang us when the proceeds from our house sale came through to make sure we were expecting a transaction, etc.
Best of luck
Irish Gal

PS you have to transfer money into the account within 30 days of opening it (even $20 is enough to keep it open)

Hi,

We are going to meet our solicitor tomorrow to sign contracts for the sale of our house and then going to book our flights to Perth! We are hoping to fly from Dublin on 15th Aug and just wondered if anyone else was flying out the same day.

Hi Everyone am delighted to have stumbled across this post. Just want to introduce myself. Me, OH and two children (aged 2 years and 6 years) are going one way to Adelaide on 6th October, well actually we are staying in Singapore for a few days first to break up the journey, and then are arriving in Adelaide on the 12th of Oct.
Am a bit nervous as have applied for the On arrival accommodation, but they emailed me to say they would let me know whether I have a place with them three weeks before my arrival date, which does not give me much time to book something else, so at this point am looking for a short term rental even.
Lettik you are in exact same boat as me I notice, where are you living? I am in Dublin, am going to rent my house out, which I know is another worry too, but what can you do, there is no way it will sell in this present time.
I heard one of the other posters said they got tax back here in Ireland, what was that for, are you due tax back before leaving? Haven't a clue regarding all that.
Who do you recommend for shipping again?
Anyway glad I have found this site.

Huge gratz on getting your visas Paddy and Helena - have a great weekend celebrating.

It's now two weeks since we got all our details into our case officer and we still haven't heard anything yet. Starting to get a bit stressed again about the whole thing.

However, I guess that doesn't solve anything - so I think I'll just take to the drink again!!
