Any choosing Tasmania?

I think if they deem it necessary they will fumigate it as a caution especially Tas as they don't have termites unlike the main land, and you have to pay if they do this!

agreed, you pay.

yeah i didn't mean they fumigate it at Tas. I just meant they are more cautious with wood going into Tas, a local Tasmanian told us this when we visited last year.

another "urban myth" i think, but "urban" and "tasmania" don't belong in the same sentence !

Didn't mean to start a disagreement but hope our furniture will be OK as very new and definitely no sign of woodworm. Anyway, I shouldn't worry really, got plenty more bridges to cross yet - skills assessment, visas, meds and on and on!

Thanks for the info Peter.
We thought that if we have to pay for our wood furniture to be fumigated then it wouldn't be worth bringing over, some of our stuff is total crap anyway. So I think we will just bring our stuff instead. We don't have a dog, but we do have a 3 year old, do you think he needs references?
Just one more question who did you use to ship your stuff?
Cheers Kerry

We used White and Co. I 'm sure they are based in Dunfermline, Scotland. Their head office is Hillsons Road, Botley Southampton SO30 2DY. They packed up our gear and loaded the container. Wridgways shipped it from Hobart to Spreyton and unpacked it for us. We originally thought we would be living in Hobart and the original estimate was based on this. I'm sure it cost around $500 extra to have it shipped up to Spreyton (Devonport)Everyone involved was pretty good. Our kitchen flooring was damaged in Scotland during removals but Whites paid to have it repaired. We also 'lost' box (computer speakers and a battery charger were the things I remember) and we were charged for cleaning the bicycle wheels(they were'nt any cleaner after cleaning by customs
)It cost us £3695 for shipping with a volume of 1165 cu ft.
Cheers, Peter

Well my OH is a diesel fitter and there is plenty of work for him, is a mechanical fitter basically a mechanic? A diesel fitter works on construction machinery.

OMG all our stuff is less than 2 years old as when we moved we had a splurge on new stuff, don't want to leave it behind!
