Well weve already had it processed and approved!! Surely that wouldnt have been possible if he was already a citizen. They have his birth certificate.
I have dual citizenship. Im living in England, my sons dad is English, he was born in England and i am English he needs a visa he has no social sercurity number, if he had been born in America he would have had US citizenship but he wasnt so hes a British citizen.

I'm not trying to create problems for you, just remembering a couple of threads from people who were in a similar family position

Heres a quote from the link called' UK SKIN CANCER RATES WORST THAN AUSTRAILIA'
The new figures show that in the past five years there have been 8,100 British deaths from malignant melanoma, compared to 4,900 in Australia.
In a typical year, 7,850 cases of malignant melanoma are diagnosed in Australia compared to 5,990 in the UK, BUT the number of DEATHS in Australia is just 1,000 compared to 1,600 in Britain.
Like i said to Dorothy its more about how safe you are in the sun then how hot the country is. Thats the point of the article.

In my browsing of the US forum on here I have seen a few cases where a child has been granted a visa when they are in fact a US citizen - same can happen with Aussies born abroad. I will try and find you a link later, as it might be worth checking in more detail - otherwise if you do move to the US at some point things could get complicated.

I'll definitely have to look into that it would be much easier for us if he was given a US passport.
No thanks thats great you'll be doing me a huge favour if that is the case, it will make thing a lot simpler. I just assumed because they processed the visa that hes wasnt a citizen.

Took some finding but thats the main thread I remember. There are some useful links in it that might help, or if you start a thread in the US immigration forum then people there may be able to help you out straight away.
The US authorities would just process the application as submitted for a visa, they wouldn't check for citizenship as a routine thing. But if he is eligible as you will see from some of the discussions in that htread he might benefit from getting the situation clarified now - even if you as a family never move to the US it may be useful for him in the future
