2.28 and falling, Yippee....

Wrong Hard Yards my South Australian Ocker (Bogan?) friend. We have a Super 14 side that regularly gets crowds of over 25000. We also have a rugby international every year that is often sold out.

I'm not sure if my info is accurate but according to my online currency converter the AUD to GBP is currently 2.28. If this is true it doesn't have to go a lot further to enable me to go home even with a big loss on the house. So fingers crossed, keep falling. At 2.1 I can go home!
Yeah,.. I'm with you there mate! I also am praying for 2.1
....... then maybe finally you will shut-up.
OK so you have had problems here in Australia. But so do others and they dont whinge the way you do.
Many people (non-brits) moving to the UK also have problems adjusting to a different culture .... but as the OZ bumper stickers says "if you dont love it leave" .... and it looks like you might finally be doing that - Yeah!
At the risk of alienating the entire "we love Arkon" community, you remind me of the many muslims in the UK who complain about the lack of sharia law, but arent prepared to move back to a country that does have it - if OZ really is as bad as you describe, surely you would have got out at any price? I know I would have.
Hopefully the exchange rate will drop to the level you require (once it hits 2.1 will you then wait for 2.0?) and we can finally be rid of your whinging once and for all.
PS.Before anyone attacks me that "Arkon is telling it like it is", I just want to say many folk (me included) have had problems adjusting but we dont all whinge and whinge and whinge. We just get on with living our lives and dealing with our problems.

Well at least he's made a contribution!!
Let me see, you joined up in Feb 2005 and have made a paltry 42 posts?? Thanx for the input... not

He also has a sense of humour.... do you?

I put it here because it's where the exchange rate posts usually go. And as so far I'm not actually returning to the UK, it seemed right to go here.

The problem is with your outlook that it sums up all I dislike about the place. The place is seriously sub standard but no one is allowed to speak out about it, we all have to love it warts and all. Excellent way to never allow the country to improve. Be happy with mediocre, sub standard, poor service, weak education, Poor driving, shite pubs, no nightlife, no future, backwards looking country, let me think about it........Naw! I think all thats bad needs to be said else it will forever be bad.

I appreciate that the exchange rate is of course of interest for entirely different reasons amongst posters here, but its not just those who might be considering returning to the UK. Others, such as myself, will never return there but want a strong dollar.
Whichever the case, this thread is indeed interesting and Australia related and should not be a "negative" or MBTUK forum post. Its of interest no matter what side of the fence you sit on.

What the F^&% do you know about my outlook? As 'Flea' kindly pointed out I have only made 40 odd posts in 2.5 years. (I prefer to lurk - it takes quite a bit to get me to actually post). Whereas you "mate" have made thousands. I think that gives me a better insight into your mindset that it does you into mine!
As I said in my post "many folk (me included) have had problems adjusting" ....... so I'm not one of the "OZ is perfect" brigade. I know it has problems. BUT.... I'm prepared to try to deal with them. Obviously in your book trying to deal with problems without whinging is a bad attitude, so therefore "Guilty m'lud"
Your list of "problems" is more related to Taree than to OZ as a whole. If you moved somewhere else in Australia, you might JUST have a different attitude. Dont condemn a whole country based on one town - If you did that the UK could/would also be down the crapper!

Much as I disagree with much of what Arkon posts, he has as much right as anyone else to post what he wants and many people, not just him, have no other outlet for their frustrations. If you don't want to read what he or anyone else posts, it's dead simple - just don't read it. Works for me
