HAPPY HOUR

Re: HAPPY HOUR
Thanks everyone.
We just drove "around the corner" to Croatia. Not known for its sandy beaches but the sea is lovely and clean and we don't mind the shingle. The hotel had a lovely pool too which we used a couple of late afternoons. It was red hot all week.
The Russians are ignorant pigs and the helpings of food they took from the buffet were enormous. You'd think they hadn't seen food in six months!
Patty - sorry about your swimming pool troubles. I hope you get it sorted soon so that you can get in there and relax.

Re: HAPPY HOUR
thanks Engliano - I'll definitely keep those instructions for next year Now that I've put it down for a 2nd time and filled it (am dreading the water bill) I think its best that it stays there for this season. We did level the ground and I bought a sheet - its like white felt and the guy said that nothing will grow through it - so fingers crossed that I haven't ballsed up again
ps. thanks everyone for your kind words - I feel a bit better now

Re: HAPPY HOUR
Dare I ask one more daft question about this flippin pool (then I'll shut up)
It has a floating mushroom shape chlorine dispenser. The tablets apparantely are slow release - I put them in today and they have hardly dissolved - now for the daft question - do I leave this thing floating around when the pool is being used? In theory we should be able to get in tomorrow

Re: HAPPY HOUR
hi patty,we bought a 6ftx2ft pool in calabria 2 years ago,on the large pools you can get a pump and filter etc.we bought kiddy safe sachets from a firm in uk called ukps £1.99 a sachet lasts 1 week,i think in this weather nothing is going to last long with sun tan oil and algae etc unless you have pump etc.ours is a holiday home at moment and does us in heat before lunch with a pina colada in hand, cheers brian.

Re: HAPPY HOUR
I know I've been really daft - I had to go into the village today but couldnt face driving (seat belt all that) and so I went on my bike and hoped dearly that no-one would notice a middle aged, very red faced English lady (with no bra) cycling around the village I'm still in agony tonight and so am keeping my spirits up with a large Pimms

You really have got sunstroke !
Yoghurt, cucumber or aloe vera is supposed to be good for burnt skin. Better than old moisturiser or after sun.

And in a week's time you are going to start peeling like an old tomato.
