Cape Town - places to avoid??

Re: Is TEAPOT a dig at colonials?
Hey you’re not Guy Lundy are you? If so I can say I realy like all the pictures of your website, gee I must admit there are so many to choose from…
Home Coming Revolution is operated by ANC puppets and changes the words murder & rape into naughty. What an insult to those ( of which there are MANY) that have had someone slaughtered.
This is an interesting post………….
I think the point is being missed that in S.A. the savages enjoy butchering you. This is not about pilfering your belongings anymore, it is about eradicating the white face in the most torturous method possible. The odds of actually catching the b*stards and jailing them is highly unlikely. At worst, they get accolades for removing one more whitey from the planet.
I really don't know why we bother to discourage people when they feel they can defy the odds. Let them go, and if they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, then they have themselves to blame.
The country is extremely beautiful, but the society is brutal, sick and vicious. The view suddenly becomes so insignificant when you know your throat is about to get slit.
Should you survive the attack, you get to enjoy many years of instant replay mentally due to the traumatic experience. Worth every minute......NOT!

I do NOT AGREE with the current REVENGE THERAPY prescribed by the ANC .
I did ask you previously - where are you situated ? The ANC offices in Rissik Street, nice location, well it USED TO BE.

Re: Cape Town - places to avoid??
I'm not taking my trip lightly. I have done lots of research on here and other places. I find a lot of people have different views on the crime situation. One person has told me not to stop at the red lights, others have said it is fine to stop at the red lights in Cape Town, but not Jo'Burg.
I was mugged in London (not just a petty grab & run), and after living in London for many years you meet your fair share of opportunitists (not comparing it to SA mind you) so hopefully I will be somewhat prepared.

This I can say in confidence.
If you think the above prepares you for SA you are in for a very rude awakening.
London still has an active police force, SA has NOT and that’s just one point.
London has a commitment to huge volumes of tourists every year.
You don’t hear anyone in a position of responsibility in the UK saying “ if you don’t like the crime then just leave”. That’s the ANCs answer in SA. Think about some of these things.
If you don’t believe me go to the BBC news site and see what is happening in Chad.
South Africa, the buy-line they use for tourism is “A land alive with opportunities”. For me that word alive is a tricky one ……………
Anyway, I really hope you will enjoy your trip and take care.
Remember Dubai still has a punishment for crime system in-place, in SA most of the MURDER CASES don’t even get looked into let alone a mention in the media.
Take heed – don’t be foolish about this.
Cheers………

If you think being a racialist is acceptable due to disliking the Muslim culture I would advise you to be careful in SA where & when you make any reference to being a racialist.
Based on your comments above I personally would not rate you prepared for SA even if it is somewhere celebrities go. Remember most the celebs have their own personally security guards etc. They live in a different world and they too are risk of getting slaughtered.
I refer David Ratary ( God rest his soul), personal friend of the royal family.
What happened – gunned down. Another slaughter…………..
Be careful……

I have not even referred to celebs ... those people live in the clouds as far as I am concerned. I am basing my comments on information from people who actually live in Cape Town ... not SA in general. There are certain parts of SA that I would not even step foot in.
My trip is for business and but for that I don't think I would even be going there, unless of course I had my body guards!!

Re: Cape Town is SA ......
Not really sure what my post with the Middle East has to do with SA. I never said that it was acceptable to be racialist at all .. I agreed with someone on something .. Come and live in Dubai and then you will understand it! (and it's not about Muslims either). Personal hygiene is not limited to Muslims.
I understand from the tone of your post that you are cross with me. I and others like me have are actually trying to warn you of SERIOUS dangers in ALL OF SA.
Hey, what colour of Mustang did you end up getting ?
Decisions decisions !
Hope your trip is successful !
You involved with some architecture / design for 2010?
Cheers and good luck ...

Yes you are exactly right. I ( & others ) that have offered you advise on this forum have lived in SA- and understand it.
You did ask about Camps Bay is where all the celebs go !
You said all the above. Do you think violent criminals are tamer in Cape Town ?
The way your posts are written there is no mention of this. It was all about the tourist things.

Are you following me around the board? How do you get time to post all the stuff in here whilst doing your background checks on me?!!! I don't recall even saying I had bought a Mustang (but if I did I am sure you will post it up here!!). DH was thinking about it .. have you moved to Dubai???? shame there is not a smiley for sarcastic
The purchase was completed .. a white one which is awaiting a rude boy black stripe.
My words re celebs, after someone asked about it, were (see page 1 of this thread) "It is supposedly very nice there ... it's where all the celebs hang out. Looks like great beaches and great scenery".
I am hope I am safe in SA ... will post on 2nd April to let you know.

It is amazing how the written word can be interpreted to show emotion .. I don't get cross

Re: The government
Personally I don’t get it (the thread).
I am no stranger to travelling on business and when I do the last thing I am thinking about is the tourist attractions and beaches but then again where do I have all this time to post here on this site.
Would be interesting to understand “what type of business” !
Kind of reminds me of the cartoon I saw:
An image of this very overweight, bald chap sitting typing and the bubble with text reads “I am 21 very athletic ………”
That’s the possibilities of the forums and chat sites; you never know the source, of course unless you meet them or get some other point of reference on them outside the forum.
But hell, how dare you look at my other posts, what are you following me around or something.
Amazing the responses people offer in return for genuine concern for their safety.
Cheers……..

My reason for responding to your thread was to offer input on your safety.
If you can ask me where I have the time to do all these posts here then surely I can ask you where you have the time to worry about beaches and Table Mountain when you are going there on business.
You don’t get cross? Let’s hope you don’t come across a dirty toilet that has been used by Muslims, like those that you said piss you off in Dubai.
I ask you one question.
What type of business are you in? I did ask if it was related to 2010 .
Cheers and yes, be safe.

Re: Cape Town - places to avoid??
My husband, myself and our 3 year old (at the time) holidayed in Cape Town last year. We didn't walk around late at night, hired a car and did the touristy things and stuck to the touristy areas.
I was advised that if rocks are thrown at the car driving from the airport to Cape Town to keep on driving. Also, we weren't told that people would be hanging around the car parking areas expecting a bit of change for looking after the car.
Whilst walking around the city centre in the day. We strolled near the railway station. I didn't like that area very much at all and didn't feel safe so we walked away from there asap.
Flew to Jo'burg which I was apprehensive about so I hired a tour guide (Cecil, Climax Tours through an Official SA Tourist Website) He met us at the airport and drove us to our accommodation, Safari etc. He was excellent and I felt much safer having a SA with us who knows the way of things there.

Re: The government
Dead-on,
You are an Irish HR Psychologist working in Dubai who wouldn’t let her hubby get a motorbike as the roads there (your drive your “large” 4 x 4) have crazy drivers. You look like Kate Beckinsale and are so good at your job that there is no Indian qualified to do your work (but you are not a racialist).
You are so qualified at telling people what to do that your answer to dealing with boring people is to get them pissed.
My contributions to this thread were intended to offer input as to your safety whilst you are visiting South Africa. I seriously hope that you don’t have to call-up the paramedics (the boring / sober people) during your stay.
I hope you have a safe trip ( To SA that is)

Where do I start with you .. mmm you are a Scot (dare I use the word boring here), who clearly had a bad experience in SA (J'Burg for the readers benefit) and now continues to spread his hatred of the country across many forums whilst running security checks on anyone that begs to differ with his opinion. Maybe I could help you get over your issues?????
