Hi guys, hope your all ok, Lisa, im glad everything went ok with your xrays
as far as areas, I think getmedownunder is right, its down to personal choices, eg, we went to this area Marion, not far from brighton, christies beach etc.. clean, quietish, right on the beach, found this lovely new estate, fab houses, went in had a look, great we thought, the estate agent asked a few questions and said straight away, if I were you I would'nt buy here, after talking to him we found out that 50% of the housing would be like our council houses, and it was quite a poor area which brings crime with it, if we hadnt been told that we would never had believed it , so choose carefully, like getmedownunder , were going to rent for a while get a feel for areas, when we were there we fell in love with glenelg, brighton, somerton park, all coastal glenelg being the priciest, brighton not so bad along side somerton park, Mount barker I also liked you also get more house for your money but a little to far from the coast.
anyway speak to you all soon.

Hi getmedownunder
How did you get on with your quote from John Rowlinson?
he is coming to see us at the end of the month.
We have got Pickfords coming this afternoon and we had PSS round last week, the guy was nice and seemed to know his stuff but i thought it was expensive, especially to keep hold of our things in storage in Adelaide (if needed) their quote was around £3800 but we are not taking all our stuff.
I will post when we get the other quotes.
Michelle how are you??
We have not had any interest in the house so we have reduced the price a little and will continue to do so until it is hopefully sold!
How is everyone else getting on generally?? has anyone looked at any other areas yet??
Michelle did you look at Morphitt Vale or Noarlunga? if you did were they nice?
Keep in touch everyone

We had a rep from GB Liners (John Rawlinson's company) down our house on Tuesday. Nice fella, very upfront about things. We've not had the quote yet though. He promised to email it over coming days. I think we're going to try John Moynes at Excess International Movers too. John Moynes is a former police officer and apparently gives good discount to police. GB liners do offer 1 month free storage in UK. He did recommend that it is cheaper to store in UK, downside is ofcourse you can wait 6-12 weeks for it to reach you in Oz. When are you thinking of moving your stuff out to Adelaide?
Did anyone see Fantasy Homes Down Under on Home on Tuesday? They were in Adelaide and visited houses in Oakdale, Mount Barker and Norwood. There were other areas I cant remember now! They also toured Adelaide and The Barrossa Valley. It looked amazing!!

The houses were not that hot, but that might have been down to the buyers only having a budget of £140,000 with a city location. For info, it's been on all week on Sky Channel 246 & 247 at 5pm and 6pm. One last one tomorrow when they visit Melbourne. Sorry I was going to send everyone a reminder but it's been one of those weeks!
I sent my resignation notice today and began the process of a preferential re-join application. I must have hesitated for all of two seconds before hitting the send button on my email to Human Resources Department!!
Hope you are all well........... we'll soon be there!
Scott

Thanks Sunworshipper, L has dumbed the form down for me so I could understand it. Having read it again, it's got to be a no to exceptional circumstances for us really hasn't it?!?
Have you lodged your application?
We are waiting on a few bits for the de facto evidence and our police checks to come back.
Hope your well

Hi Andy says it's exceptional circumstances for us as we don't have a degree, i'm sure he said that. Also Katie ticked yes and they have sent their's off. We are waiting for the results of our chest xrays from Diac first before we send off our visa application, long story but Andy has had operations on both his lungs in the past so we want to make sure Diac are happy with his xrays first.

Your waiting for the results of X-Rays? We were under the impression that the results were held on file until we lodged our visa applications? Do DIAC review them and get back to us beforehand?
We are very close to lodging our application now. We've probably gone over the top with the de facto evidence but we'd rather be cautious.
Just waiting on police checks to come back and to complete some solicitor statutory declaration witness stuff.
Who have you got to certify the copies of birth certificates and passports? It's a bit ambigious on the website as to who is authorised. It depends on what website you read. I've seen entries on other threads on this site saying the same thing. The advice was to err on the side of caution and get it signed by a solicitor or JP. When Louise was applying for her skills assessment earlier this year we got it all done through a solicitor. It would be much easier if we could get a police officer or teacher to do it!
65 shifts to go!!

...... oh and we ticked 'yes' too on the exceptional circumstances bit. We just put down 'employer has already submitted this info' or words to that effect..!!
I've sent a copy of my University certificate with the application to be on the safe side.
Thanks for all the advice, speak soon

Hi getmedownunder
We were not sure if our xrays got looked at first or not but we were going to ring them at Diac when they arrived just to ask. (meds have landed in Sydney this morning!!!!!!!) If they don't then we will just send our visa off, it's ready to go. Our documents were signed by a solicitor.
We just need to sell the house................

The doc should know where to send them. We front loaded ours so they went to Sydney office. 47ES goes straight to Melbourne.
