Same here across the opposite side of BC (just across the border from AB). Only dropped to this price this afternoon sometime. It was 6c more yesterday!

Re: Anyone in Prince George? Want a meet up?

What brought you to PG? Like I said earlier (last year  ) upthread, PG is my nearest city, but still around 3hrs away. Have lots of friends in PG though.

Re: Uk DNS codes for Netflix

Yup - we use HMA Pro VPN too. Works great! It's the only way we can do it as our satellite internet connection stops the freebie (i.e. just changing your DNS settings) options from working...

Re: Anyone in Prince George? Want a meet up?

I'm probably your nearest BE neighbour, OP, at a mere 275km away.

I'm in PG fairly regularly but generally just for the day...and when 6hrs of that day is spent driving to/from it doesn't...

Re: Doing business under your own name in Canada?

Yep, sounds about right, thanks. I've only been looking at the regulations for BC. I just keep running into mention of "your own name" but no definition of whether that means full name, or not.

Thanks Siouxie - I've seen both those sites before though... I just cannot find anything that clarifies whether operating as "A. N. Other" is considered equivalent to, and as acceptable as, for...

Doing business under your own name in Canada?

I'll ring and ask CRA if I can't get a definite answer here, but when you decide to operate as a sole proprietor in Canada without registering a business name - so, using your own, legal name - does...

Re: H5N1 Bird Flu BC/Alberta

Weird - that's not how it was when I was cleaning planes as a student, for several different airlines. Blankets that had been used on the flights were always removed from the plane and laundered, and...

Re: Using amazon.co.uk in Canada

I ordered an 8 season blu ray (region free) box set from amazon.co.uk for one of my kids for Christmas. With shipping it was around $90.

Amazon.ca wanted $240 for the 7 season set and didn't have...

Re: Xplornet

No way would I swap. We need a large download allowance and so the cell phone network offerings would totally break the bank. We couldn't get anywhere near the 80GB Xplornet give us, going through...

Re: Xplornet

We've had Xplornet satellite internet for just over 3 years and it's very reliable for us - even in really bad weather. Ours is good enough for Netflix and Youtube without buffering, but not exactly...

Re: “The problem in Canada is… they have almost third-world access to the internet.”

We have 80GB/month on our 4G satellite internet package (Xplornet) at 3Mbps and pay about $100/month for it... Their most basic package gives you 5GB/month at 1.5Mbps for $44.99. Be grateful you...

Re: Those in BC, curious what your doctor made from MSP?

I know - I didn't imagine that it was their only income for one second  I cannot see any qualified doctor earning that low an amount per year... I was just responding to the original OP's post...

Re: Those in BC, curious what your doctor made from MSP?

There are 3 GPs at our local health centre. Each of them were only paid between $60-$65k from MSP according to that publication. They're all absolutely fantastic doctors and they actually care and go...

Re: Red Deer and area meet up!!!!

Thanks everyone - it's all looking good for him to be back on time as the surgery went ok and she's apparently recovering well. Still a long road ahead for her, but out of any immediate danger.

Re: Rural Canada - how is it? and where?

Agreed. Nearest place to us with a population of over 1k is just over 100km away (Jasper, AB, with ~4k people.) Our nearest city is Prince George, with about 80k. PG is not exactly a desirable...

Re: Rural Canada - how is it? and where?

Nearest place to where I live is the village of Valemount - pop around 1000. Definitely a village!

(Doh - I meant to quote siouxie's last post!)

Re: How well do you know the United Kingdom?

Holy crap - I got 100%. I want to feel all smug and superior but in all honesty I'd say that 50% of my answers were total lucky guesses...not even "educated" ones - complete and utter flukes... Think...

Re: Border Guards Searching laptops/phones/facebook/email/twitter

Yup. My dad was a customs officer and I remember that we occasionally (not often) used to get calls from the police in the middle of the night, asking for him to accompany them to some premises or...
