Mark Knopfler's coming to Chicago in September

My ability to go depending on if I can spare the money for a ticket of course but we won't worry about that just yet

Re: What gig are you going to?

Could you go by yourself? I'd happily go see ELO on my own

Re: What gig are you going to?

Might be something worth taking my daughter to as well. The closest we came was going to see The Nutcracker locally a couple of years ago, but she did enjoy that.

Re: What gig are you going to?

You know, now you come to mention this concert, the Chicago Symphony is something I should really go and see.

Re: What gig are you going to?

I think that counts. Hope it's good, I like a bit of classical music now and then.

Re: What gig are you going to?

I always heard that post-Slash GnR was kind of hit and miss. You'd either get an excellent show, or Axl would act like a huge diva and ruin the entire thing for everyone

Re: What gig are you going to?

It really is. Nigh on impossible to explain why as well, but it is.

It was outstanding. David Gilmour is an expert at crafting a solo that is as much about the notes he doesn't play as the...

Re: What gig are you going to?

Shine On was the opening song for that tour (as it was for the 1987 tour after Momentary Lapse of Reason came out I think). What a way to start a show.

Re: What gig are you going to?

Still good, of course. Earl's Court plus Pink Floyd for me always leads to PULSE

Had they started doing Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety live back then, or was that a post-Waters thing?

Re: What gig are you going to?

Was that in 94/95 for the PULSE tour? Jealous either way, but PULSE is one of my favourite live albums.

Re: What gig are you going to?

I saw them with Paul Walker years ago, it was a decent night. Mainly I was happy to see Brian May playing live.

I'd be interested to see how they do with Adam Lambert, I hear they are supposed to...

Re: What gig are you going to?

The Lumineers are pretty good. Kind of folky, almost like an American Mumford and Sons, if you like that sort of thing. One or two of their songs have been used in ads, I think, so you might...

'Meta' just means self-referencing, like when a TV show does an episode that is sort of about itself, rather than the story arc.

I was just being...

Re: What gig are you going to?

It's a sad day indeed when you're jealous of a North Korean state band's keyboard rig

But they are pretty good. I mean, the songs are a bit cheesy and Eurovision-esque, but the musicianship...

Re: What gig are you going to?

:sneaky:

But actually, some nice playing there. I always like listening to songs sung in other languages as well, it's interesting to see how they phrase them, being so used to hearing songs in...

Re: What gig are you going to?

Depends on the structure of the tour, I suppose. Sometimes they can mix and match bigger and smaller shows, but I'm sure that's management driving the pricing, rather than the band themselves.

Re: What gig are you going to?

For that price, it had better be seated :D

Re: What gig are you going to?

Is it seated then?

I've been up front at a few Dylan shows, but it was standing only.

Re: What gig are you going to?

That's a per ticket price, there? Hell's bells.

That's why I love Bob Dylan, I've never paid more than about $40.00 to see him :D

Re: What gig are you going to?

Nice one. Stanley Road was my favourite of his, if he still does stuff of that album, all will be well :D

As far as not talking, I'm fine with that as long as the music is still good, and it...
