pathfinder rocks...it's a great motor...bit juicey though, and if it breaks down it's not cheap to repair, none of the imports are though, but it tends not to break down, so overall probably evens out, plus it holds value pretty well unless you drive into a tree

I bought all my cars at home through a mate so this is a bit of a new experience for me
Have you checked Edmunds?

Gas mileage not great, but hey it'll do for a start.
Trying to get the price down from $8k to $6k may be a problem though as $8k already seems rather cheap - prob due to the mileage or the fact that it's from New Orelans

Is it registered in IL?

Is that even a problem?

Does it have flood damage?

Was it car jacked?

If its from New Orelans you want to give it a really good check for any signs of flood damage, they can clean most things up but there still should be signs.

Check www.carfax.com should give you a good history if you decide to go for it.

Yep - I know.
Its not from NO as far as I'm aware, but the price seems suspiciously low so that was just me think out loud.
I'm not sure if the excessive mileage would knock that much off the car's value (about 50% more than you would expect from a model of that age, the price is about 30% less then I would have expected)

5 years ~= 60,000

+50% = 90,000

You might want to check what needs to be done at the main service intervals. You don't want to buy something that needs something major done next month.

Yep - your sums are pretty close.
Good idea about the servicing though.

how many miles has it got? and you checked the vin number? if there is any trace of it being NO or there abouts, it'll be a lemon, even if cleaned, salt damage is still a kick in the nuts.

2 things bother me - first its a jeep and second the soft top - not sure how it would cope with a Chicago winter.

Any comments appreciated
hey if it was good enough for Carter in ER than its good enough for anyone....lol
