I bought all my cars at home through a mate so this is a bit of a new experience for me

Trying to get the price down from $8k to $6k may be a problem though as $8k already seems rather cheap - prob due to the mileage or the fact that it's from New Orelans

Is that even a problem?

Its not from NO as far as I'm aware, but the price seems suspiciously low so that was just me think out loud.
I'm not sure if the excessive mileage would knock that much off the car's value (about 50% more than you would expect from a model of that age, the price is about 30% less then I would have expected)

+50% = 90,000
You might want to check what needs to be done at the main service intervals. You don't want to buy something that needs something major done next month.

Good idea about the servicing though.

2 things bother me - first its a jeep and second the soft top - not sure how it would cope with a Chicago winter.
Any comments appreciated
