Re: What's your favourite American chain restaurant ??
If anyone gets a chance to go to 'Carabas' in Hunt Valley, nr Baltimore (Ok it's a long shot) It's absolutley brilliant, some of the best food I've ever tasted from a chain restaurant. We went to the one near us thinking it would be as good, it was total doggy doo, the Steak tasted like Horse and probably was....

I try to keep the family off hydrogenated oil/corn syrup as much as possible, so would rather entertain friends at home than go out to a restaurant as is the norm.

Cici's Pizza (a rip off for paying for dough)
Wendy's (burger are like cardboard)
Taco Bell (had a salad once and got food poisoning. Food is probably fit for chihauhas)
Johnny Carino's (I was frankly speechless about the food and the service was downright awful)

As for sanitation...I'm afraid I pay no attention...on one of the news channels there's a guy that dishes the dirt on the local restaurants but I've never really watched it...besides I don't get out that often and when I do I prefer somewhere close....of course inside the restaurant I do pay attention... I heard once that to get an idea of what their kitchen looks like rate the loo's ...if they are gross so will be the kitchen....dunno if there is any truth in it but i do get grossed out if the lav looks and stinks...well like a public latrine :scared:

As I mentioned in a previous thread, my vote goes to Cheesecake Factory, so long as you can put up with the typical 1hr wait to get a table, or go at off peak times.
Much nicer ambiance than your typical Denny's, prices not too much more expensive than Denny's for most entrees, typical US sized portions (meaning you can take the leftovers home and have the meal a second time), and rather yummy cheesecake for dessert.

My fav is Olive garden and we also have a very nice Chinese buffet not far from us... Applebees does a decent burger although I am looking forward to trying Red Robins. Outback is nice too.
