3K here too....but I only do that during the winter, other wise around 5K.

Road money, federal only pays for major roadways, the interstate etc, other small roads are paid by towns and a top up from the state, which is why some towns have great roads and as soon as you hit the town border it can turn to shit, along with snow removal.
