I've only been here a while, so maybe someone else should suggest a place, but downtown would probably make most sense. How about 6:30 pm Thursday the 11th, Shakespears Pub on 6th, is that any good? Or that Fado place on 4th? Any one up for pint?

Interesting thing happened last night. Was helping out a lost New Zealander and we got to talking about Americans being unable to understand our accents even though we speak perfectly clearly. She said "I know what you mean and my accent is closer to American than yours" to which I replied "so there were a lot of New Zealanders in the U.S. colonies then?"
Dunno about you but I don't hear much Oceana in the accents I hear.
I do have moments when I'm out and about when I have to stop because I swore I heard a Scottish or English accent...only to hear more of the person talking and realise they are 100% American. Quite strange.

I've just moved from Scotland to Houston. I'm living in North-west Houston and drive to work via Beltway 8 Toll Road - every day I see at least 3 or 4 cars with little British or Scottish Flags on them. Ususally Focus's or Minis.
I've asked my mum to send me a GB and a Scotland sticker for my car too so I can join the club :-)
