I've got a question since its been a few years since I have owned a car in the US, but I do know those in the US feel they have high prices, but how do you think the US would adapt if say prices rose to be more on par with say Canada, where it runs 4+ a gallon. (in my part of BC, its about 5.30 CAD a gallon when converted from liters.)

Just curious.

It it crazy to think when I first got my license 17 years ago, that I could fill my car up, get a candy bar, and soda, and still have change from a 20, how times change.

It's all relative.

When I came here 16 years ago, I filled up my Explorer Sport for $9. Now, my Edge takes close to $60!

Prices in '98 were around $1 a gallon and once dropped as low as 59 cents when a new station opened. I was also buying five cases of Diet Coke for $10 and a carton of Marlboro for $12.99.

We can all do the 'I remember when' thing and the older you are, the bigger the difference!

Depends. Folks in cities with public transport would probably be okay....though else where will be less well off and poverty will be worse.

Anyway, the places in town that were $3.33 yesterday are all now between $3.40 and $3.48 today for the cheap stuff.

Depends how fast your income goes up as well. I know some who basically make the same today as they did 14 years ago......I myself make 2/hr more vs 1999, so basically paying 2014 prices with 1999 wages.

When I started driving in the UK a gallon was the equivalent of 2 pints.

Soon went up to 4.

So as the gallon/pint conversion would be a wash, should cost about $9 a gallon.

Which I think it does in the UK.

Up to $3.59 where I usually buy. Up 30 cents in about 3 weeks.

Noticed 3.09 this afternoon at HEB.
Just back from Chicago, where it was over a dollar higher - most places seemed to be around 4.19

Not easy to find B&H here - and if you do, it's not the same.

I'm currently paying around $3.359 sticker price, for BP in NC, before the loyalty discount. I paid $3.129 yesterday in SC for Exxon when I was running very low, though when I got into the next town it was $3.209.
