Default please help

hi guys,

Little annoyed but of course not surprised. I am officially caught between two govt agencies so I would appreciate some help...of course not interesting in nasty comments!

I94 expires end of May and visa extension papers submitted mid March (E-3 visa). Went to DMV this week as my license expires on the same day as my I94. Not surprisingly the manager denied to extend and gave me a list of acceptable documents (only APPROVED application applies to me). Little pissed off as not having a license in CA will not be funny.

Anyone can offer any insight on how I can get around this (if anything).
THanks,

I don't know if this thread is appropriate or relevant any more: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/to...ivers-license/

Could perhaps try a different DMV?!

I agree with GeoffM, try a different DMV. The alternative, is to drive on an expired license.

The IDP is worthless though.

I would try a different DMV. My situation was different but, when we renewed our L visas we got new I94's, but still had expired visas in our passports. The DMV issued me a 3 month paper temporary DL again, and sent my file to the "Proof of Legal Residence" department. I had to go back and get 2 temporary DL, until I had been back to England and got the actual visa updated in my passport.

Are you in the Bay Area? The new Los Gatos office were incredibly helpful and friendly, the last time I went there.

+1 on Los Gatos being above the usual low DMV standard

As a license yes, as a translation of a license it can be useful. Not relevant to the OP's situation though.
