Phil Collins- great drummer, great singer or balding pepperpot*?
Pepperpot!
He should be banished to Outer Mongolia along with the likes of Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Strange, we never come to this particular expats forum, and yet I was attracted for some reason to this thread! Heh, here's the story.....
Mr. P and I met almost four years ago on a NG dedicated to Gabriel. He was in England and I was in the US, and as they say, "the rest is history"......
A group of us got together from all over the world and started posting about the possibility of an organized, weekly chat. This was obviously a logistical nightmare because we had members from the US, UK, Canada, Italy, France, South America, Australia, etc, etc, etc, etc. Timezones do not make things easy!
Anyway, I took over the planning of the organized chat, and apparently this level of skill impressed our Mr. P.
We got to know one another as friends, soon became Instant Messenger partners, and eventually realized that this 4,000 mile distance was going to kill us if we didn't conquer it.
I am a die hard Gabriel fan (Genesis and solo) and Mr. P. is somewhere in between the two. He is a musician and can appreciate both the drumming skill of "Phildo" (OMG, LOL!) and the "out there genuis" of Mr. Gabriel as well. He has recently gotten his first American car and I was treated to a particularly obnoxious version of Collins on the car CD player screeching "Mama".....to which I rolled my eyes, but to each his own?
To make a long story even longer.......the Gabriel song "Solsbury Hill" is basically like a theme song for our relationship. A year ago last July I visited him in the UK and we actually climbed the Hill on my 39th birthday. He got down on one knee and proposed, hit "play" on the CD player, and our beloved Peter belted out "I've come to take you home". Champagne, the works.....it was perfection.
So, I guess you could say our household favors PG for sentimental reasons, but there is room in hubby's heart for Phil as well.
It's ok.....I love Mr. P despite his faults.

Claim: Phil Collins wrote the song In the Air Tonight after witnessing an incident in which a man refused to come to the aid of a drowning swimmer.
The story has to do with Phil Collins supposedly watching his close friend drown from a nearby cliff, while he stood helpless, too far away to rescue. In addition, supposedly there was a man who could have rescued the friend but just stood idly by. Then, Phil writes a song about the experience and gives the man a front row ticket to the show where he premieres the song. While Phil sings the song to him, the spotlight is on the man in the front row.
Does anyone know the truth?

Phil Collins' singing is as good as his acting. If you've seen him act, you'll know what I mean
