I would undo the decision.

The only big thing that I would change if I had it all to do over again (assuming that this would have been possible) is that I would have moved to the US about 5 years sooner than I actually did.
I would also have held out for slightly more money from my initial job offer (although that situation fixed itself very quickly).
Oh, and I wouldn't have bought a black car - my first car in California was black and it got really hot in the sun ...

I moved here twenty years ago initially just for the experience of living in the USA, never ever had the desire to go back.
Haven't been back in eleven years, not that interest in even visiting anymore.
If I was to do it today I might consider living living Southern France.
I like living in a warm climate.

Meh.
I don't regret moving to the US, it's been alright, nothing overly crap nor overly good, just another place to crash.
I'd have been better off staying in the UK career wise for a few years before moving to the US though as I was sorted there but it was a mare over here, still is.
Had the chance of Finland, didn't bother, but that could have been fun. I'd liked to have tried Sweden, but given the way things have been going there last couple weeks I probably would be in a worse spot if I'd have tried over there.

This is a question i ask myself everyday, no over exaggeration. I ask my mum about this often also. I was 12 when i came here so i didn't have a choice in what was going to happen. I do know my mum would have kept us in England if she had known about what life was going to be like for us here and the events that have happened over the last 5 years, no doubt.
My life while living in America hasn't been too great, not great at all, both my personal life and the American experience side of it too. I just feel that my eyes have been opened to the word while living here and that i have changed and grew up in ways i would never have if i continued living back home. I see things differently from a lot of other people now.
So no , strangely enough i wouldn't change a thing

Came over here 9 years ago, initially for 18 months...still here, which says it all really. Wouldn't have changed locations..loved Michigan while we were there, but got out just as the winters were starting to drive me crazy and now loving Texas.
Can't think of anything I'd do differently, apart from laying the law down sooner with my parents about how often and for how long they can come and stay...!!

Arrived ~11.5 years ago with the intention of staying 2 years. (It is seen to be advantageous in the sciences to have spent time outside the country to get a better job once you return).
I met the lady who is now my wife ~10.5 years ago, have been married ~7 years and have twin 2 year 4 month old daughters. It took me 5 years to get out of academia and get an industry position (I did not want to leave NC but know I could have found a better job if I moved west or north east).
Regrets? - The only thing I would do different would be learn more about tax treaties as I was given the wrong information by my employer and had to pay back all the tax I avoided once I hit 2 years residency.
I am sure this subject has been asked again and again but I wonder if the single people who came over have it "better" than the couples and families?
