MS lost on the 360 for the first year... starting around a month ago they are now making money on each console due to component price reductions and production changes.

"Look at these happy smiling people! They don't know that Nintendo's being sued over the Wii-mote. Next-Gen reports that a California company called Interlink Electronics is taking Nintendo to court, claiming that the motion-tracking controller infringes on this patent for a "Trigger Operated Electronic Device"..."

They don't stand a chance, reading the patent, it's nothing like the wii remote....cheeky crunts

When the PSP first came out i was told it would work as a wireless control for the ps3... and if you are playing a driving game for example, the screen on the psp could be used as a rear view mirror and the screen can be dedicated for the front on view.
Maybe i was lied too but it seems a lot of sony's claims about the ps3 over the last year have not come to fruition!
I think the 360 and wii are conquering 2 very different ends of the market, and if the wife lets me, i will get em both!
but i actually know the wife wont let me get either so i will just resort back to hanging out at electrical stores playing the demo model! at least it will get me out of the house!

They are losing money on it, but as was said so was the Xbox. I weighed up the options on what console to get and decided the PS3 was worth it. I wanted a hard drive and wireless in the console so that meant getting the $600 one, but to get the wireless add on for the Xbox costs another $80, so that would cost almost $500 anyway. The unknown with the Xbox is if they decide to make games in the HD DVD format, to get that add on is another $200. Then watching films through it if you want HD you want an HDMI cable and then Xbox doesn't have this either. The fact is the PS3 is a very nice system, I agree that not everyone wants the extras (wireless, Bluray, HDMI, etc) but if you do it is well worth it.
You also have to remember that a lot of people out there have loads of old Playstation 1 and 2 games sitting around and this will play most of them also.

Not sure about the PS3 yet but i use my PSP as a remote to the squeezebox audio system i have set up which is pretty cool, so it probably will soon if not now. Also with locationfreetv you can watch your cable box anywhere in the world - which is very cool...
