So is he a perv for being gay, or a perv for liking young men, or a perv for sending them email? If the boy was 18 at the time, could he have come out (no pun intended) and told the world it was his personal life and none of their buisiness? Does the fact that this was investigated by FL newspapers over a year ago and dropped due to lack of cooperation by the boy...before being leaked to CREW who sent it to the FBI and the media even matter?
To me it smells of a fully orchestrated and choreographed October surprise, and makes the Dems look so damn two faced it is incredible. Clinton gets BJ's on the oral office by a 20 year old intern and it's no problem.... Republican sends dirty emails to a 17 year old and the world comes down on him.

Fu ck politicians, every one of them. Term limits should be applied- 8 years, then they take them out back and shoot them.

Now tell us what you really think.

One of the kids was actually 16 at the time:

And apparently, the Republican party knew about Foley's behaviour years ago.

And so much for a Democrat leak: http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/expo...506/news2.html

Still I'm sure you can find something to blame the Democrats for...

Aren't there laws in some States about age differences between consenting adults? I don't know if Florida is one.

He is a criminal for trying to seduce under-aged boys.

He is a criminal for sexually harassing people in subordinate positions and abusing his position of power.

He is incorrigible for now blaming his behavior on alcohol and previous abuse by a clergyman.

He's a perv for thinking that boys that age would find him attractive and acting on his own delusional overly high opinion of himself. I mean really, he's no better than the men in their mid-forties who hit on 16 year old girls. Being gay should not get him a get out of jail free card when it comes to statutory rape.

I think he pulled this nonsense in Washington though.

I don't know if DC is one then. Although it's not a State, but you get my drift.

I hardly think it was "no problem" the whole thing pretty much stymied his presidency and rendered him ineffectual for the remainder of his term.

I find his behaviour odd, not illegal just odd.

just admit you like young lads, which he obviously does.....

blaming behaviour on your lifestyle isn't an excuse. being gay and a drunk doesn't make you a Dog......being horny makes you a Dog.

He did send some messages to one page who was 16 and in Louisiana, which has an age of consent of 17; that's what the FBI is focusing on.

In one of the many books I have read there was an interesting concept. Government positions should be ran the same way as Jury duty, e.g. picked randomly from eligible persons. Would make things interesting :D

As usual people interpret what is written to insinuate whatever they want. So let me make it clear where I stand on homosexuality. Although I disagree with their lifestyle does not mean to say I do not try to have some understanding on the subject. I most certainly do not hate them and had a very good friend whose son was homosexual. It is their choice. People lead and live the life they want to and I am not here to judge or call anyone.
The age of consent is 16 in the UK and this has tried to be lowered. I cannot recall reading any outrage from the general public about any of this when I was in the UK but here in the States well why the outrage from ex-pats two and two does not add up.
nb I am reading that the Page in question (his statement) did not receive any e-mails until 1997, he is now 26, which means he was 17 when the e-mails were sent, not 16 as been reported and had never met Foley. After receiving the e-mails he still took up an invatation to go to visit Foley. As someone has said there is whole lot more to this than meets the eye..

Yes, but if you see a gorgeous female and then find out she's 15 or 16 - don't you have the ability to control yourself? Or do you send her text messages and make a complete fool of yourself? They're arresting guys on Dateline every week for doing exactly the same thing to teenage girls. Why shouldn't Foley be held to the same standard?

It's *against* the law; even if it wasn't, like someone said before, the same would be said if it was a 50 year old guy, sending texts to an 18 year old girl.

this question was on the tv last night and seems that to be arrested a text/IM has to show where the perv actually made arrangements to meet the innocent male/female and as yet they have not found one in the foley case.

If it's proved he didn't break any laws then I can live with him not being prosecuted. However, he still was abusing his position and certainly should be found guilty of at least sexual harassment.
