I wanted to make a couple of comments and add my two cents. Firstly, God invented sex. God made us all sexual beings. The US still has that puritanical streak in its culture and is uncomfortable with sex. It upset me this week that the media was more interested in talking about the gay politician and his text messages than it was really discussing the murder of the Amish girls in PA. Was anyone else kind of disturbed by the lack of empathy in the media with this news story? Why isn't there more outrage? The gun culture here makes me so mad, I just don't get it.
Anyway, some people have made comments about gays. Not all gay people are wig wearing trannies or leather men. The politicians in this country have used those images and more to demonize the gay community for their own political benefit. It's all politics. I don't think God cares one way or the other.
I do attend church and have found a lot of comfort in religion. I do think that the right wingers have highjacked the church and turned into something fascist. When did Christianity turn into a tool for persecution rather than something that helps others (the poor, the needy etc)? I just don't get it. Thanks! Have a great weekend.

I don't know if he's a "hero" but it definitely took guts to speak up knowing what the media does to innocent people in this country every day.

He has not spoken up. In fact, he and his family wish this would go away. It was not the boy, or the family that 'outed' Foley, rather a paid REPUBLICAN Congressional staffer who sent copies to Washington media outlets in JULY.

Yes but they got the information from the boy originally:

The page forwarded the emails to a colleague in Alexander's office, saying "this really freaked me out," and repeating the word "sick" 13 times to describe the photo request. He added, "if you can, please tell Rodney [Alexander] about this."

I get your point though .... he didn't go public with it. I wouldn't have either. I would have probably done just exactly what the kid did.
