Before I moved closer to work:
30 mins when school's out
45 during school term
$80.00 per month for tolls
$40-$60 per week gas
After moving:
10-15 mins whether school's in or out
Big fat $0 on tolls
$30 per week gas
Spending more quality time with puppy
No stress before I even get to work
Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a 35 minute drive in the car, as their's no public transportation option. It's pretty much Interstate the whole way.
Which is roughly the same amount of time as my Northern Line commute in London....

It's rubbish, 90 just stops for no reason and if there is an accident, forget about it. I'm kind of stuck because I work at Euclid and E14th so I either take 90 and all the crap that comes with it or take the shoreway which takes ages for me to get to and can be just as backed up. Now with the road being torn up it really sucks. Then I have to get into downtown. If it's snowing I mostly don't even bother going in, it can take over 3 hours to get in during snow. It sucks when it snows once you are already in. The annoying thing is I can do door to door in 20-25 minutes if I haul it and it's after 7pm. That is if I don't encounter a cop along the way.
I liked working in Elyria so much better, it was the easiest drive I've had!

I have the joys of living and working on the east side of Cleveland. By my best guess I reckon home to work would be about 20/30 mins on the bicycle..... just need to get my fat arse onto one and find out

So how long is your commute to work?
In NC and TN, I lived a 5-minute walk from my office (lived in a neighborhood next to the university). Here in Glasgow I drive for 30-75 minutes each way depending on traffic and road works (how can one hole in the road cause a 4-mile near-stationary traffic queue?) The loss of 5-8 hours (on average) per week on non-productive time has made a surprisingly huge difference to my lifestyle.

I hear you....I *really* need those hours as a working mum. I can work from home as well if not better than if I'm actually at work, but this is frowned upon because some people abuse the privilege. I could be saving money, time, wear on my car, and creating less pollution, but ....

Sometimes I will sit at home late in the evening, surrounded by a pile of research articles I'm using to help me write my paper, then in the morning I scoop up the pile of articles, shove them in a bag and drive them to work just so I can then re-organize them on my office floor and re-start writing. That's when the light bulb goes on and I think "What the heck am I thinking?"
