It depends on what is happening at home!!! If my folks are doing well, then everything is fine... if not, I worry and feel very isolated.
I am lucky enough to go home every other year for about 6 weeks... but on the chopper leaving the islands I am an absolute mess  ... but once I get home (Texas) all is good... I am exactly the same as you, if all's well with the family back home then all's well with me. Lately my grandpa has been in and out of hospital (cancer) so I have been up and down like a yo-yo, take the good days with the bad at the mo! |
Re: How homesick are you?

Awww sorry to hear about your Grandpa, that is SO hard.
Good news though, my mum and my niece get here on the 20th of July in time for the big event on the 27th. Dad is staying home to get some piece from mum, only kidding he's got a few large home improvement projects to undertake. I'm a bit gutted he won't be coming but that's life. |

It is hard not a day goes by that I don't phone to get the latest on how he's doing. Sometimes I can tell that they keep things from me so as I won't sit here and be a wreck. I'm doing ok about it all lately, focusing more on getting things organised for the new arrival. Sounds a bit brutal but the show has to go on and I've made my bed and I have to lie in it. Hubby is very supportive, I have my moments when I just sit and cry and he knows why.

So hard for you dealing with such upset and delight at the same time. You will have a fab time with your mum and niece and of course your new arrival, try to focus on that event and keep your chin up. Absence from loved ones is so very hard I saw my family 4 weeks ago but it feels like forever now. |
