Help needed for Brits relocating to LA

It’s not uncommon (from my experience on this forum) for poms to think it’s (should be as a matter of fact) relatively easy to get into US. This perhaps is because their claim on how easy it is for EU nationals & easy (comparatively) for non EU nationals to get into UK
Learning US immigration is a rude shock though and the OP needs to consider the visa situation first. I mean good for the forum everyone sharing information but honestly little waste of time, with due respect, without the VISA situation first looked into.
“we will figure it out, we will work around it†– not US immigration for sure. It usually is, do you qualify for a visa or not. No "working around" US visas.

I've asked you before not to call us Poms...why do you even use that word you are not originally from Australia?

If I made an ethnic slur on the basis of your race, ethnicity or nationality...would you be offended?

Some thoughts
- Poms is as offensive as Yank or Paki or whatever
- I don’t need to be originally from Australia to use the word P*ms, do I :S ? My ethnicity shouldn’t matter. I consider myself Australian coz that’s what I am now.
- I am not sure when I was told last not to call you folks P*ms
- I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

I don’t think its offensive at all. But hey, if it is to you /anyone else then I didn’t mean it to be a slur that’s for sure.

I give you a lame example – An Indian cricketer allegedly called Australian cricketer (aboriginal decent) ‘monkey’. Australian cricketer reacted strongly and was ‘offended’. The word ‘bastard’ is used commonly in Aussie slang. Indians on the other hand found that to be ‘offensive’.
Just pointing out the subjective aspects of it all. Not defending myself but we will then get into what is offensive for me and do I get to voice that (?) and stop others from using that word.
Anyway, let’s move on – I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

Erm ... I hate to break this to ya'll but we don't mind being called Yanks. As a matter of fact we LIKE it. It's really hard to insult an American. I'm just saying.
