The differences would mainly be cultural and experience based, you will love some things in the US and hate some too, as you do in the UK. Even the hot weather gets old after years of heat and humidity. There are so many variables that you are arguing an arguement that cannot be won or lost.

Have you heard about people going bankrupt in the UK due to the inability to pay for medical bills? In the US, over 50% of bankruptcies are caused by inability to pay for medical bills. This was big news earlier this year.

You should all be standing on your own two feet. We shouldn't expect hand-outs from the government.

By 'Sparkster' and 'Guinevere' - which is probably one of the longest ever threads on this website (incidentally I saw some 'chainmail' in a mediaeval store in New Hope, PA last weekend and immediately thought of her LOL!) .
Why do you keep registering under a different name?

I have a few reasons to move to Florida. Cheaper, Better weather, better education for my Son, to be nearer to family and to make my fortune.

Plus education is shite unless your in a decent area or paying premium...university is really expensive...and medical insurance is crippling, and you will be crippled without it if you get in an accident or get sick.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!! advice wanted to help us move
I've lived in the states for 2 years now, and am currently back in the UK for a quick trip
comparing London cost of living to Podunk, FL cost of living is silly
also I think comparing the quality of liveing is also silly
there are many things here which are complete crap
yes, some housing is cheaper depending where you live, but you can't really compare a brick built house costing 300k GBP in london with a 400k USD house in boston (average house price there) made of wood and plastic
all things considered, I would move back to the UK, but unfortunately for me thats not on the cards due to my partner
