Yet everyone can make whatever offensive remark they want on their car stickers and ram their political opinions down everyone else's throats
Oh, and Merry F**king Christmas!

for example, I have friends who are Hindu, who include me in their celebrations, e.g. divali. I think it's really nice of them to include me, even though i'm not hindu. it's a beautiful festival. They ask me about christmas, and they came for our non-pc 'christmas dinner' last year; after all, it is not 'holiday food' which is served, but a traditional christmas celebration; so why would we rename it? they enjoyed it a lot....

That's exactly as things should be - nice to know !
That's how it used to by where I worked in the UK - we had Muslim, Sikh , Jewish and Christians working together, and we shared each others celebrations without the need to call them anything other than what they are.

Whilst we're on this subject has anyone here ever been "offended" by anyone ??
I'm not sure that I have. Sure occasionally people have made comments about me/to me that have p*ssed me off, but I'm not sure if I was actually offended.
If any fellow posters have ever been offended I'd be greatful if you could let me know what its meant to feel like.
Thanks

One thing which offends me, as a woman of "certain age" is when someone refers to older people as "wrinklies" . It makes me feel somehow inferior, which is offensive, 'cos I'm not! Annoyed is perhaps a better word than offended, though, like you, Im not certain where one ends and the other begins.
I'm never offended by political or religious stuff . I support PC-ness so far and no further. Can't tolerate racial slurs or women not being treated equally with men, or intolerance of gayness. But again it's annoyance I feel about those things rather than offence - I think.

What about people who go out of their way to be 'offended' ??
At this stage I'd like to point out that I am slightly bored, but I still think that this is an interesting topic for debate.
