Dont forget you need the golden SSN to be able to take the test!

The theory is mostly about booze limits and whats equal to what, how far you have to be from fire hydrant n speed limits, they dont seem to give a flying monkey if you know what a road sign is! as long as you are not drunk!!

oh and if someone overtakes you there its in their test that you should slow down to let them pass!

Remember also that you can not buy or lease a car without the license for which the SSN is required, you can however rent car from airport on your Uk license but be prepared for a large bill untill you get your NJ license, I would get your companyto put in writing if they will cover this as we were instructed to hire a car then had truoble getting the cash back!

Then there is "parking" which makes all the rest look like a cakewalk. The worst is that all this has to be done without hitting any objects, other vehicles or pedestrians and also without any major traffic law violations. Minor infractions such as excessive speed, making a right turn from the left lane and driving on the sidewalk are usually overlooked as those happen to everyone, even vetran drivers, and the testor realizes most of the candidates are nervous.

Don't feel inadequate if you fail the first time, It takes most people several tries.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to say welcome to BE and enjoy New Jersey!
Good one, think that sums it up. You did forget to mention, in some States you take the test, without leaving the DMV Parking lot.

Like NJ. My daughter's test was in an empty parking lot...took 5 minutes tops.
