Sorry, I wasn't being clear with my point: it's complete Ross McToss to expect some sweaty-arsed cable TV installer to check anyone's ID to make it an effective barrier to anything - if, indeed, any cable TV company actually has that expectation, which I doubt.

When I ordered Directv last year I didn't have a state id or anything to prove my address, I was living in a hotel at the time. They installed on the day we moved in. Comcast did the same thing when we moved in Feb this year and didn't require any id or proof of address.
