Death to US!

Re: Death to US!
Yes, they are that and then some....
" I can criticize my country and still love it. The same as I can criticize my children and still love them."
I totally agree, in fact I can't think of a single person I know who doesn't criticize this country... it's kinda like criticizing your parents when you are a kid, you love them, and are grateful for the fact that through them you are provided at the very least, enough food to subsist and medical attention when you break a bone.
But even after years of telling mom and dad that you hate them and they are monsters, there are times when you might proudly claim "My mom is the best mother in the whole world!!"
...Its not meant as offensive to everyone else's mother out there, it's just taking pride in your roots.
There's a special joy you get when you love your country and truly believe it is the greatest country there is. You don't even have to actually believe that pound for pound, it is in fact the greatest- you may not even bother to check... it's not a literal statement, but a endearing sentiment; and for those who may not have actual family roots to take pride in, harmless patriotism may very well be the closest they will get to that warm fuzzy family feeling.
Now, to say "The US is way better than Denmark" ...that I could see as offensive. But who knows... maybe I'm biased from years of watching fireworks on the 4th of July and a lifetime of propaganda. In which case, may I offer involuntary brainwashing as excuse for any pompous fits of patriotism we Americans might have now and then?
