Apparently Trump announced this evening that the changes will be coming in the next 2 days. The current restrictions end tomorrow so I suspect something will be announced for Monday start.

You can still enter from countries that are not on the restricted list.

Latest news is tomorrow or Monday for announcement.

I just want some clarification regarding what the plan is with K1 visas going forward my case has been stuck at NVC since April. Got NOA2 March 26th. Still need to get my ink fingerprints from a UK police station for my Canadian Criminal record check, but they are not currently taking appointments as home office told them they cannot reopen yet.

so you're waiting on the UK Home Office to open the UK police stations?

Fingerprints can usually only be done at specific locations such as the actual Fingerprint Bureau for that Police Service, usually located within the Police HQ. Not every police station can do them.

I submitted my 01 extension on 5/26 and attached premium processing the day after it was allowed on 6/9. My application was accepted as a new event and I got a 3 year extension and they updated my existing I94 with the new petition end date in June 2023.

have to leave at some point and get a Visa but I need a waiver of inadmissibility so that complicates things for me.

Out of interest, what do they do when they arrest a miscreant off the streets?

Don't they get fingerprinted once booked at the local police station, or do they tend to get taken to a central location for this?

I'm just wondering why those who opt for the free option get fingerprinted at the local station, whilst paying members of the public have to go to Police HQ for the premium service

Most UK forces have designated stations (Custody Suites) to deal with the riff raff so the local plod may have to travel 30 miles as their local station isn't designated.

Ah.

I always thought the "Custody Suite" was something that each individual police station had.

AFAIK all stations in Sussex now have Livescan machines, which allow for electronic fingerprinting - no more ink! - and any arrestees prints are taken on those.
However fingerprints for such reasons as Immigration are done under different rules, and only in designated places. There is also a fee payable for them, and that was always one reason for them being done by designated Fingerprint Officers - also there are far fewer prints done for Immigration and so only a small supply of forms was kept - issuing those to each station would have been a nightmare. I also remember that we had to check passports etc, and in the case of the US we had to adhere to a few other niggly little rules regarding their forms. All a headache that the local stations really didn't need, and in many cases they just didn't have the capacity to deal with them.
We also had a few cases (one of them was actually the wife of a BE poster) where the person's fingerprints were very indistinct, and needed a real expert to try and get a good enough set to pass muster with immigration. Prints can be damaged by a lot of manual work - nurses (in the days when they scrubbed floors etc more than today), cleaners, bricklayers, builders - all of them can have degraded prints. In the case of the BE person I think we took 5 sets before the FBI finally accepted one, and that was with our best guy on the job. All this is hassle that a local station just doesn't need - they don't have people on hand trained to take prints, your average police officer just knows how to get a basic set from an arrestee.

Not at all. Many small local stations aren't big enough physically, many are not manned 24/7, and a Custody Suite demands a lot - food and welfare provision for those in custody being part of it.

For visa categories that are still open for application, can anyone tell me if the UK London embassy is providing visa appointments at the moment? I'm not in any rush really, but interested to know about people's experiences.
