Yeah, I know there has been a lot of talk about this in the last couple of weeks. Be interesting to see what he does. Well, interesting in a "shit, there goes my work" kind of way.

I'm so confused. Is the expected EO going to impact those already in the US on L1? I am in the US but due to travel to UK and France in August. I can't tell whether I would currently be allowed back in now, nor after this EO.

no-one knows right now.
All I can tell you is that companies have been advised to get current employees on those visas back into the country before this weekend.
And in any case as the current restrictions stand, you wouldn't be able to do that business trip to the UK and France and come straight back to the USA. Not sure why you planned that trip just yet.

Without the 'new' EO, would I be allowed back in today?

you would NOT be allowed back in if you had been in the EU schengen/UK in the previous 14 days unless you were USC or spouse/kids and I think you're on L1?
This has been in place for months.

Also, I don't think you are allowed into france right now unless you have rights of residency.

Wow, I don't know how I misunderstood this till now. Contacts of my wife have been to France and back during this time but I assume this must have PR or GC.

My wife is French and they have reopened the border to some degree so getting in would be OK.

Damn. Can only hope then within the coming weeks before due to travel things may change :(

Thanks for the info.

*edit* they were on a G4 visa which is exempt.

Although what I don't understand is how people on these visas outside the US are being advised to return to US before this weekend if they haven't been able to enter anyway?

Still possible if you have the means, isolate in somewhere that isn't restricted from the US for a couple of weeks beforehand. Right now it seems to be so critical that's it's somewhat 'now or never' (or several months) so anyone able to do so should return via whatever means regardless of the cost or effort. Could well be too late (also bear in mind this is general advice from immigration lawyers and not UK/EU specific).

Apparently Trump announced this evening that the changes will be coming in the next 2 days. The current restrictions end tomorrow so I suspect something will be announced for Monday start.

You can still enter from countries that are not on the restricted list.

Latest news is tomorrow or Monday for announcement.

I just want some clarification regarding what the plan is with K1 visas going forward my case has been stuck at NVC since April. Got NOA2 March 26th. Still need to get my ink fingerprints from a UK police station for my Canadian Criminal record check, but they are not currently taking appointments as home office told them they cannot reopen yet.

so you're waiting on the UK Home Office to open the UK police stations?

Fingerprints can usually only be done at specific locations such as the actual Fingerprint Bureau for that Police Service, usually located within the Police HQ. Not every police station can do them.

I submitted my 01 extension on 5/26 and attached premium processing the day after it was allowed on 6/9. My application was accepted as a new event and I got a 3 year extension and they updated my existing I94 with the new petition end date in June 2023.

have to leave at some point and get a Visa but I need a waiver of inadmissibility so that complicates things for me.

Out of interest, what do they do when they arrest a miscreant off the streets?

Don't they get fingerprinted once booked at the local police station, or do they tend to get taken to a central location for this?

I'm just wondering why those who opt for the free option get fingerprinted at the local station, whilst paying members of the public have to go to Police HQ for the premium service :)

Most UK forces have designated stations (Custody Suites) to deal with the riff raff so the local plod may have to travel 30 miles as their local station isn't designated.

Ah.

I always thought the "Custody Suite" was something that each individual police station had.

AFAIK all stations in Sussex now have Livescan machines, which allow for electronic fingerprinting - no more ink! - and any arrestees prints are taken on those.
However fingerprints for such reasons as Immigration are done under different rules, and only in designated places. There is also a fee payable for them, and that was always one reason for them being done by designated Fingerprint Officers - also there are far fewer prints done for Immigration and so only a small supply of forms was kept - issuing those to each station would have been a nightmare. I also remember that we had to check passports etc, and in the case of the US we had to adhere to a few other niggly little rules regarding their forms. All a headache that the local stations really didn't need, and in many cases they just didn't have the capacity to deal with them.
We also had a few cases (one of them was actually the wife of a BE poster) where the person's fingerprints were very indistinct, and needed a real expert to try and get a good enough set to pass muster with immigration. Prints can be damaged by a lot of manual work - nurses (in the days when they scrubbed floors etc more than today), cleaners, bricklayers, builders - all of them can have degraded prints. In the case of the BE person I think we took 5 sets before the FBI finally accepted one, and that was with our best guy on the job. All this is hassle that a local station just doesn't need - they don't have people on hand trained to take prints, your average police officer just knows how to get a basic set from an arrestee.

Not at all. Many small local stations aren't big enough physically, many are not manned 24/7, and a Custody Suite demands a lot - food and welfare provision for those in custody being part of it.

Hi folks!
Did anyone from the community fly back to the US since President Trump's proclamation with a H or L visa already stamped?
I read and read and I get zero clarity whether I am able to fly back from UK to US with my visa, L1A...

Stay safe!!

On the assumption you don't quality for exception (see WH link below) then no, you cannot fly directly from UK or any Schengen Area country (including transit), or indeed Ireland, China, Brazil, Iran... See https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...countries.html.

Don't be confused between Covid related restrictions (Proclamation 9984) and the visa issuance suspension through the rest of the year (Proclamation 10052). If you already have L visa stamped then you can enter the US provided you have not been in the aforementioned countries within the past 14 days. I have colleagues and friends that have returned either from Croatia (via Turkey) or Serbia (direct).

It's pretty clear cut here:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/president...l-coronavirus/

Section 1. Suspension and Limitation on Entry. The entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of all aliens who were physically present within the Schengen Area during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States is hereby suspended and limited subject to section 2 of this proclamation.

How much of it is guesswork I don't know, but the immigration counsel for my employer estimated some time in September for easing of restrictions IF US embassies started re-opening and issuing visas by August. I fear now though there may be [even more] political hurdles while US remains on EU's barred list.

Don't count on immigration restrictions being lifted before the November election. Immigration is always an election year hot potato issue in the US, and this President is hip deep in it and hip deep in trouble.

Maybe, but I can’t see foreign countries (such as EU) allowing US people in anytime soon. After all, the infection is completely out of control in the US. Some regions are worse than others, but unfortunately, there’s no effective control over travel within the US.

more exceptions have been added to the list - most notably the families of H1 visa holders already here in the USA.
https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...-recovery.html

and in the preceding news item - sounds like some movement may take place. Although not really affecting general population yet :

Granting national interest exceptions for this travel to the United States from the Schengen area, UK, and Ireland, will assist with the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and bolster key components of our transatlantic relationship. We appreciate the transparency and concerted efforts of our European partners and allies to combat this pandemic and welcome the EU’s reciprocal action to allow key categories of essential travel to continue.

Hopefully they open up soon; currently there is way more risk for people here to fly back to UK than the other way around.

Re: Covid 19 Travel/Immigration to USA - please check here and ask questions

I have family traveling out from the UK in a month or two. They are essential workers, are required to be in the US at this time and have Visas issued just a few days ago. They qualify as exempt from the travel ban and are being asked to get here as soon as they can, so no discussion required as to whether or not they should or should not be traveling at this time. Can't comment on their personal details any more than that. My question relates to the quarantine requirements when they get here. I could not find a definitive answer to these questions.

1. Is the 14 day quarantine mandatory, or just advice from the CDC? Is it absolute meaning that they cannot go out anywhere for any reason during that time? (Asking not because they want to put anyone at risk, but because they at least need to get basic supplies when they get here. I live a long way away from where they will be, and have my own commitments. so it is not easy for me to help then out).
2. Are quarantine requirements state specific, or country wide?
3. Other than temperature testing and answering questions regarding COVID symptoms on arrival, are there any additional requirements to fill in paperwork above and beyond what is normal pre-Covid)?

I want to stress that they are very, very responsible people and are here to help. The goal is to find out if they can at least go out once or twice in the first 14 days to get essential supplies. Although I am sure we can find a way to get things delivered, it would be helpful for them to be able to go out and get some basic supplies independently.

Re: Covid 19 Travel/Immigration to USA - please check here and ask questions

I flew in, Heathrow to Boston, a month ago. There’s a simple health related form to fill in, given out on the plane. It’s basically just the travelers contact information. Then, there’s a health department screening to go through after immigration but before customs. In Boston, it was a trestle table set up in a passageway. Passenger’s temperature is taken and the usual symptoms questions asked. They took your health questionnaire from you. AFAIK, that was the only extra entry requirement travelers were subject to.

i believe the quarantine is fully state managed, as to whether it’s a federal requirement I’m not sure. Boston must have forwarded my details to New York. I was contacted four days after arrival by the NYS health dept and put under very strict quarantine (court order etc.) but may just have been because, in my case, they said I’d been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID 19.
