Let hope so. Cant wait to see them (Labour) finally go!

1) For me it isn't, I hope I am never as a 'blind' supporter of a party that I don't see their weaknesses. I'd be very scared if I did!

2) It wasn't the same for the Tories.. Major standing against Thatcher and winning don't think you could say that was a white-wash re candidates, or any other nomination (Though Major as a lame duck granted but not in the situation you were talking about.)

3) I didn't think it was right with Major being PM without an election either. Which I remember Labour being very vocal in that regard too.

Why would it have to be a 'lame-arse' candidate for Labour to put up, I would hope they have plenty of worthwhile candidates!
If it was only going to be 'lame-arse' candidates that they put up well it goes to my point I think the whole thing is a whitewash. And I would think its not just me that feels that way but many Labour supporters as well even if they like Brown?!
Also maybe FYI you might like to know that I like Tony Blair, did not like him when he first came to power but think he has proven himself as a good PM. So maybe as I was a Tory that last comment wasn't "obvious" for me to make

There was talk of Milliband running against Brown and he had support however he was quashed by the brownite contingent. I see they have now made him Foreign Secretary as a consolation - he was probably told this before he put the rumours of him running to bed.
At 41 and with very little diplomatic experience this is just what we need isnt it at these times, another nitwit! Especially after Becket who was utterly hopeless.

A presidential system doesn't mean that transfers of power such as Blair to Brown can't happen without some sort of election: Have a read about how Gerald Ford came to be president of the USA.

I tend to agree with you on this and certainly hope so. Time alone will tell.
