Thats.....sick.

I love my flab. It helps keep me warm and nourished while I sit almost motionless for days - only moving the odd finger - while typing on internet forums. Im almost like a bear in hibernation. If I had liposuction then id be dead of malnutrition or hypothermia in a week. My wife has to prod my belly every so often just to make sure im still going.

No! Not at all!

If you prefer to simply set up a standing order for $1000/month to your local plastic surgeon, they'll be happy to let you keep all your body's little imperfections :D

Alternatively you may commit in writing to consuming vast quantities of junk food, become morbidly obese and then fund the surgeons and drug companies through liposuction and diabetes drugs.

Otherwise, yes, I'm afraid you are required to be unhappy with your body. Anything else would simply be un-American, and possibly even anti-American.

I think you are right.........the girl I saw having the surgery was gorgeous too......I mean how big were these labia??......she was walking normally :p ......I wanted to see dammit :mad:

I also have a big issue with routine episiotomies... my OB-GYN tried every which way in to convincing me into having one and when I point blank refused she basically said on your own head be it... I ended up needing 6 stitches and was completely healed in less than 2 weeks... and I will not be having one with my next baby either.

Thanks Ash! He's Matthew Zander, he weighed 6lbs 11 oz and was 20-1/4" long. He's a little guy (except around the region of this thread's subject matter ;)) but he is 2 weeks early. We brought him home today and so far our 21 month old daughter loves him. Waiting for the novelty to wear off sometime tomorrow.......

Congratulations on your pregnancy! When do you go for the sono to find out what you're having - do you want to know in advance?

I was thinking I remembered you having a baby around the same time as I did with my first.

Well I go my ultrasound in about a month but I am not going to find out... I like surpises! if we have a boy we are also calling him Matthew (great minds think alike) I also really like the name Katie for a girl but everyone here prounces it Kadie :(

Enjoy your little one ... and hey we want pics too... yeah I know I am demanding :p :p :p but you know how us women get with babies.

Anyone can change their name. I'd changed mine before I was 18 (but changed it back -- long story). Who gets to decide ridiculous names? Angry White Pyjamas seems pretty stupidly inane and obviously ridiculous, but you chose it to identify yourself in this forum.

If you really want to discuss a looming health crisis in the UK and the US, it's diseases that have vaccines but parents are choosing not to vaccinate for fear of side effects. Now that discussion's even bigger than the circ debate. Should parents have the choice to NOT have their children vaccinated?

I heard of hospitals at one time giving episiotomies after the birth just because it was policy that everyone got one! Well done for standing up for your rights. :)

However, the point I was making was about not making life more difficult for our kids by being irresponsible and "twee" parents.

Well - it is a very personal choice - most 1st world countries had (at some point in time) a blanket policy of encouraging it - in some cases, this policy is reversed.
From a medical point of view, opinions are divided largely down the middle - there are studies showing increased incidence of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in boys under the age of 2, and there are studies that show that such increase is so marginal as to be insigificant. Others talk about penile cancer, others refute it. Some talk about reduced vulnerability to STDs, others refute it or say that the risk only applies to certain sociological groups of people -

Check out the New England medical Journal or the BMJ if you want a deep dive on this. Whatever you find there, will likely re-inforce your viewpont.

From a religious point of view, many groups - and not only Jewish!! - have found good practical reasons to practice the cut over the millenia. If you are approaching it from a purely practical point of view, it is prudent to examine the reasons and decide for yourself.

I don't use words like "mutilate" - loaded words usually cloud the issues. The biggest determinant (I think) of whether a boy gets done is usually whether the dad is done and had any bad repercussions/experiences, etc from it.

I am done, and both of my boys are done. Ontario used to do it routinely, but the practice was stopped a few years back. In the hospital where the boys were born, I found a Jewish consultant paediatrician who did the cut, and I paid the hospital a standard OHIP fee of $140 - (about 60 quid). The boys slept through the 5 minutes while it was done..
