Generally the rental offices that I go to have a limited "stock" of cars on site, and I have never had anything less than an "equivalent", or upgrade car, but then I am not confined to requiring an automatic (Mrs Turkey drives a stick-shift too ).
That's been my experience with the likes of hertz, Avis etc who normally just specify a group rather than a specific modle but since 1car1 specified the model I was annoyed they didn't deliver. Especially as they didn't have any cars (even the one I was "upgraded" to) that held as much luggage as the one advertised.
