Why does it have to be an either or? Brexit is a permanent situation. Trump, at the very most, is 4 years.

Current UK policies are ugly IMHO and I think that BREXIT will keep them that way for at least a generation. At least with Trump there is hope of a change in 4 years....

Rather than moving to Yorkshire you'd be better off moving to CA or MA.

To be fair while Trump IS a handy symbol - the damage being done by his cabinet, the GOP and a potentially conservative Supreme Court could last significantly longer than 4 years.

Surely the biggest "risk" is that what President Trump does actually works and/or is popular?

Nah, he won't get in a second time UNLESS he is absolutely brilliant at the job.

Not necessarily. The beauty comes in the fact that all things can be reversed in due course. Just because he has a cabinet or a congress of fellow party members or even a conservative Supreme Court doesn't mean that every member is going to swing his way.

Now if only they would pass a law limiting the amount of terms a senator or congressman could serve, as they did with the presidency after FDR. There are far too many members who have outlived their usefulness. They need to be unseated.

However many years it is I just hope he does a good job and upholds the constitution. After all, he is the POTUS.

Do you think that President Barack Obama did an "absolutely brilliant" job in his first four years?

I'm also torn between returning home or living under Prez. Cheeto.

I realized recently that as repugnant as he is, he is a symptom of the bigotry and hate that have taken over this country. People here seem to spew vicious slurs and lies about everyone who is Not Them. I've lived here for 35 years and I have seen a huge shift from tolerance to bigotry. Many Americans have forgotten how to be kind or polite to each other.
It's very sad. If Brexit hadn't shown the ugly racist underbelly of Britain, I'd go back in a heartbeat. I still want to return home but now I'm more leery of what I'll find.

"It's the economy, stupid!"

If employment and wages rise (because of Trump or in spite of him) the chances of a second term are pretty high.

As others have said, Brexit is permanent whereas Trump is temporary. And it's too soon to tell what effect either of them will have, to be honest.

Who knows? 2017 could be the start of a glorious new era of financial stability and economic growth for both countries. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm not discounting the possibility either.

For me, personally, the US is home now and I very much doubt we'll ever move back. Our standard of living is vastly superior over here, and to be honest I'm glad to be away from the yob culture in the UK.
