Longleat Safari Park has numerous fact boards concerning wild life, one of them states that the toxicity of a BW is 16 times more deadly than a rattlesnake.

The BW only injects a tiny amount of venom compared to a snake and seldom causes death to a human.

As Jerseygirl has said, yes, per ounce the toxicity is higher, but a snake injects far more venom.

Kind of like the little critters myself. I've got a whole troupe of them in among the garage door sensors. They pretty much stay put, so it's fine with me until Octoberish when overpopulation sets in.

As for brown recluses, none this far west. No worries.

Hang up some CDs around your house. Make sure they're at the spider's eye level.
