I tried to stay out of it but a thread titled "Beer" is just too tempting not to read!

This is a good beer blog written by a beer-nut turned landlord of a London pub. Makes me homesick and miss my London pub crawls sometimes but it is comforting in a connection-with-home sort of way.

Hopefully one or two of you might enjoy it.

I certainly miss the buzz of a good British pub, although more now as I live in Florida, where 99% of pubs (Sportsbars) are terrible!! But then again, Fla is an outside State and most people prefer to do other things. I can live with it, and it's not the end of the world! But, it makes my trips back to Bristol that much better. My wife rarely wants to come as we cannot both leave our Restaurant for long periods. I always have a great time returning to my old haunts, which more and more of seem to have graced the Cask Ale!! One reason why I belong to Camra! I too get homesick for the things I miss in Blighty, and I know how you feel reading blogs about pubs from your home patch. I always console myself by remembering that although the pubs were great, being in there 4 or 5 times a week could get boring, as it was the same old same old, but going back once a year means I can overdose, haha!!

This is a new favourite my parents introduced me to, Gloucestershires Camra pub of the year!!

I'm just north of Atlanta. Yep Sweetwater do some good stuff, especially the IPA. Been meaning to do the brewery tour for a while. My absolute favourite US brewery is Stone.

I normally drink at a place called Taco Mac. It's a chain of bars here in Atlanta area. Ridiculous name but brilliant selection of beers. They have about 100 beers on tap.

Only problem with Taco Mac is the atmosphere is a bit crap. Hundreds of tv's blaring out sport all the time. That's just the way they like their bars over here isn't it? I love sport, but i only need one tv in the corner and only put the sound on if there's a big game on. There are no 'pub' type bars in my town sadly.

Yes Stone makes some great beers, I've had the Arrogant bastard and the Cali-Belgique on Draught at my Restaurant, and I agree SW IPA is my favourite of theirs! Yes, it seems a lot of chains are jumping on the bandwagon with the Craft beer, but the only problem is they don't seem have a clue what it's all about, extreme entertainment from all angles! Whats the problem with people sitting down and enjoying some socialising? Sports bars with 20 TV's and buckets of crap beer is what they should stick to. I hate going into a place to enjoy a good beer, and you can't hear or not be distracted by all the Televisions!! I'm taking a couple of American friends to England, I can't wait to take them to a country pub with cask ale, no TV's and no loud music, should be fun!!

I was in the Manchester pub in Manhatten at the last World Cup. I think it was DD they had in there. It was horrible! I used to drink it in Balham South London in the mid 70's. Either I did not know what a decent beer was in the 70's or the beer in in the Manc was total crap!!

Remember the Party Seven big cans that you could get from an off licence on the way to a party? OMG the mess I made in friends kitchens with those things, not a good idea to carry them under your arm whilst briskly walking to the said party!!

At this precise moment after just eating a Chicken Tikka Masala, I'm finishing a bottle of N'Ice Chouffe Winter Beer from Belgium. If you ever get a chance try almost any of the Chouffe Beers, thay are the Bollocks (another great word I can use in the USA without anyone even questioning what I just said)
