There is no policy on transferring tracks u have ripped from ur own CDs. The only restrictions are on downloaded tracks, which actually are imposed by the music companies, not Apple.

I really can't see what ur problem is Suz, unless I have just missed the point

The iPod is a great product; but Apple have to appease the record companies, otherwise iTunes wouldn't have been so successful.

I know it's not a policy as such but making it incredibly difficult to take the tracks on your ipod (which you got from your own CD's which you paid for) and put them on the iTunes on your new computer is hardly condusive to customer satisfaction is it.

When they made it to coolbrands etc last year I applauded Apple, and generally I don't have a bad thing to say about them, but this is something which is technically very easy for them to fix, but, thanks to the same sort of restrictive drama that existed with DVD regions etc recently their valued customers are getting disgruntled!

I love my iPod dearly, but this problem is a real pain!

Thanks, I gave it a go, but it only works if you still have the old PC and mine is in the UK without my iTunes still on it

Try Freshmeat.net:

http://freshmeat.net/projects/podsblitz/

The programs don't always work and are sometimes unstable; but the good ones are very good.
