This is true. It used to bother me that my sister used to scowl at me - "Jesus, you sound like a f***king American every time you open your mouth." Now, I can smile sweetly and respond "but, I am one."

If I can have your membership number I'll put it on my N-400, or do I just mention you at the office, only 80 days until I can apply.

Now, I am considering it, but am asking myself if it's worth it. Considering I have no plans to move back to the UK, I've probably answered my own question there, but I am hoping to hear from others who have gone through the process and can inform me of the benefits - pros/cons?

Nothing will really change, but you will learn some fun facts like what side of the road people should drive on, how many stars are on the flag, how many national languages the country has. After all, the US must maintain quality standards!

Sounds like someone needs to read the new citizenship test!
(they toughened it up a bit.)

Yes I see at the Portland office now you have to say how many attended the last Portland Beavers game and name 25 of them.

It's still pretty irrelevant to living in the US though, which is odd...but whatever

Biggest pro, that's in the wiki, is being able to leave the country if you wanted for extended periods of time, which can be really handy if you have sick/elderly relatives etc.

And it's a good tax break if your spouse carps it

It's kind of sad that the biggest advantage to becoming a citizen is that it makes much easier to leave.

"Land of the Free" (i.e. free to leave...)
But also, free to keep updated on changes to the tax code as they occur..

It is a bit, but other wise, LPR does the job. It's a convenience thing for a lot of people, not just those moving to the US though, so I wouldn't read to much into it
