Re: Priority date current? Not anymore :(
Well, it was a long wait under the new PERM process. That was supposed to speed everything up. I vaguely recall LC's were meant to go through in weeks under this new sysyem. I think yours was filed under the old system?
That was why I wondered if lisag's was filed now using the PERM system she might be OK.

Well everyone I've just got off the phone with my Lawyer, and guess what we are screwed!
It seems that she has only just filed for the LC on June 26th 2007 and she hasn't even received a priority date back yet... Again stupid me, we've been paying her since June 2006 to get this done asap and she even told us don't worry you'll have your I-140 by June 2007 so you can extend your H1B no problem HAH! stupid us we actually believed her so yes we are definately going back home at the end of the year as she's left it soo late that we can't even extend our H1B and the 6 yrs is up in Dec 07.

Elvira is wrong though, if you have been paying the lawyers, then they are supposed to be working for you aswell, not just the company. :curse:
We had a similar situation arise a few months back. After waiting 2 years for LC to get through the back log, we found out that the lawyers were only working to the companies best interests and weren't listening to us at all. We had to remind them that we had paid half the fees and therefore they were working for us also.

I am not sure of the legal situation, but until I heard of your case and Lisa's, I had NEVER heard of a company not dealing with, and paying for, this part of the process. After all this is THE key component of the PR sponsorship process.

What I meant was that the whole LC process should be the responsibility of the company - i.e. THEY should be paying for it.

Our company were only willing to pay half the fees, and we had to pay the other half. Unfortunately the attorneys failed to see us as paying clients. So in March 05, after waiting a year for the LC and PERM just starting we asked if we should think of applying for PERM instead, we were ignored. So we waited an extra year for the old LC to be approved for no good reason. OH was filed as an EB2 which was current the entire time. :curse:
We're lucky that at least we now have our I-485's filed (since january) so will have to just keep waiting I guess. That'll teach me for thinking we were almost there.

I've just signed.
OH is in a very specialised field... BUT a job has just come up back in the UK
If we file in July he cannot travel for the interview...assuming he even gets one. If we don't file and he doesn't get one and there is retrogression in Oct.....we are damned if we do and damned if we don't. However even OH , who loves it here, is beginnig to be p***ed off with the whole thing.

I will ask tomorrow.
I have just got back from walking the dog and have spoken to two people here on H1B's who are about to throw in the towel and go home after what's happened.
