Hi All,
I've been following closely in the background, firstly sorry to hear so much bad news around refusals in London, a process that wastes so much time, energy and not to mention expense is hard to bear.
I was wondering if anyone who has been given a 214(b) refusal would be willing to share more information to give more context and perhaps reveal if there were any patterns behind these decisions? obviously without revealing any personal or damaging information
for Example :
were you born in the UK with the birthright to a UK passport or are you a naturalised UK citizen / citizen of another country applying from London
are you a passport holder of another country or dual passport holder
have you declared periods of living in another country
Do you have an extensive travel record
are you in full time employment / self employed
have you presented a UK police certificate where offences have not been removed under the rehabilitation of offenders act
If the original waiver sought was not related to a CIMT / Drugs have you previously overstayed / been removed or travelled to the US on an ESTA
do you have any overstays/ removals from 3rd countries in your passport
I understand it may be a lot to ask but any insight given might help others on the forum or those who are considering going down this lengthy process in the future

Hi Guys,
My husband’s in a similar situation he has an 18 year olds drug conviction from when he was a teen. He had his embassy interview on 25th Feb and was recommended for a waiver. We won a holiday to Florida for 27th May, but haven’t heard about the waiver yet. Changing the date would cost over £750. Has anyone else had theirs approved in time or gone through something similar?

LondonAlb. sorry to hear that! I still can’t believe that people are being denied waivers under the 214(b) act. If I recall this is something that is established at the interview and doesn’t require a year+ wait for a decision to be made.

Jools help me out here…based off the response LondonAlb. received is it safe to say his waiver was denied because of the lack of documentation and not because of his history?
