Over a decade ago, I-192 applicants were discussing exactly the same email address and lengthy waits - 1-2 years in some cases, and the ARO email address was solely listed as for these applicants.

I see the blank entry on the spreadsheet has been removed, it said they received their email this month after applying in June. Have to say that it gave me hope
The Austrailia wait times seem to be a little quicker than London, could this be because of Londons workload? Hopefully NewZealand is also a little quicker.

And here is a still topical article about the ARO from 2013.

Just my two cents..
There is a possibility that waiver activities at the CBP/consulate may be suspended temporarily due to pending revisions of the Foreign Affairs Manual, if any at all. If that is the case, which I doubt it is, the waiver processing could be delayed indefinitely. Another possibility, which seems more likely, is that the federal workforce is being re-shuffled/replaced/re-hired which would slow down all types of consular activities in the short term.

I was not told about the waiver procedure on the day of the interview. My case was sent for regular administrative processing then. The consular officer contacted me on the 29th of April stating that I was ineligible for the visa and that he would recommend a waiver for the ineligibility. When I received my documents and passport the following week, there was a letter dated 29th April with the waiver recommendation decision.
