Congrats.

When was your interview? London? When did you get the email.

My dad had an interview on 20th January at London, we were told before the appointment that the wait was 6months so booked our wedding for September hoping dad could join us in Orlando.

The lady at the interview said she would send the waiver request form off for him and we have had no correspondence since so can't check the status with any receipt number etc as we don't have one.

Has anyone recently heard back from january? Or should i hold out a little while longer before cancelling the wedding?

I'm aware it's my own fault - just looking for recommendations not judgement lol x

Thank you x x

Even if it takes 7 or 8 months, it should be fine... but, if your dad can't make it - his loss. Don't cancel your wedding solely because your dad did something in his past that caused him to need a waiver! You'd be punishing yourself for something you didn't do.

You haven't done anything wrong!

Agree, it is his fault.I went to a wedding in Mexico where the Grooms brother could not attend due to child support arrears, not the Groom's fault.

I meant my fault that I'd booked before he knew for sure he could come.

I wouldn't dream of getting married without my dad there - I just presumed 9 months would be plenty of time after my initial research said 6 months was the current wait.

It's getting pretty scary now though as the weeks go by!

I read the other day on Facebook that a lady's partner who was interviewed in February has heard back last week and it's really shook me as I thought the forms were done in batches by date.

Just hoping it will be soon 😩 X x

Thanks everyone for your replies x

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait. There also seems to be no rhyme or reasoning to the specific timings of each case. We know waivers don't necessarily arrive in the order that they were applied for, and whilst there must be a reason for that, no-one is completely sure about what. Severity of the crime and how long ago it occurred seems to be the most likely explanation.

It is probably worth starting to prepare yourself for the eventuality that he might not get it in time - again there is no way to know or speed the process up - but gearing yourself for that possibility might save you some money or something in the long run. There is a very good reason why the Embassy tell you not to book anything prior to having the visa in hand...!

HI
I went for my visa and interview on the 2/3/17. Due to a driving offence dating 23 years ago where I went to the police station voluntarily was arrested due to procedure and fined for a traffic offence.
I was issued a visa in 2014 and transited the USA to a onward flight. I have reapplied in March 2017 and to date it is still on Admin Processing. I check daily on the site. The CO said he would recommend a 5 year visa. My new job entails that i travel to the USA and other locations. I have emailed the embassy and no reply since April. I am a UK citizen born and bred.
I have been completely honest, is there anyway to find out, what the status is?
I know Ireland have a tracking number and London do not? I have meetings in the USA and have been postponed twice and our MD is not very happy and i don't want to lose my job? Any Suggestions

I feel your pain.

I have only been waiting since 19th May and it is doing my head in, not known for my patience.

My status said refused after the appointment and then 3 weeks later changed to administrative processing but date stayed as last update of 19th May. Since then nothing else has happened and it has been 9 weeks.

When you look at the Belfast ones they seem to be processing in about 14 weeks.

When did your status change to administrative processing?

My stated Refused and then changed to Administrative Processing 2nd of April.
What i cant understand is a girl at work whose boyfriend has 2 convictions in the last 3 years for ABH and GBH, whose going on holiday and his visa was received / approved within 3 weeks of his application.
Have you been chasing the embassy and what have they said?
