Following on from this post and discussion, this is the reply from London after I e mailed them

"Thank you for your enquiry,

If you wish to have your passport returned with your current visa whilst your application is being processed, you should inform Embassy staff at the time of your visa interview that you wish to continue using this visa for travel until a new visa is issued."

AS the passport is not retained in the case of waiver AP there is no reason to think that the existing visa will be cancelled automatically
Hope this helps to clarify matters.
Having said that ,nothing to do with the Visa process is 100% certain

It's not a problem - travel with both passports! Easy peasy!

Interview went as expected. Out by 9.30am so not too bad.

Recommended for 5 year visa, but not getting my hopes as was recommended a 2 year last time and got 1 year.

Current visa was not cancelled.

Serenawell Thanks for the update and the clarification on the "existing visa cancellation "issue.
I am and sure others are, happier that this has been cleared up.

I hope that the trend for waivers to take less than eight months works for you

Hi all,
for those interested in time lines, I have received my emails this morning requesting passport . Interview was February 10th in London so that's just over 18 weeks. Pleased with that !

This is my second waiver and the officer recommended 5 years. Let's see.

Previous waiver was 7 years ago and I got single entry 6 month visa that time ! However I did receive it less than month from interview !!

Just to update I have received a 5 year visa, passport returned today so just under 20 weeks from interview.

Best wishes to those waiting , at least the timescales seem to have come down :fingerscrossed: .

It's likely that the system is overloaded with requests during the day... so try applying in the middle of the night. This has often been successful... and keep trying.

Hi, i have been a lurker on this site since February, when my husband made his application for a B1/B2 Non immigrant Visa. Its been brilliant for keeping my mind at ease, and to learn to be patient!!

This is the timeline so far

Made application on 5th February 2016
Interview date on 18th February 2016 at the London Embassy
Was refused a visa but was recommended for a Ineligibility Waiver and told he would get a 1 year Visa.
Received email today (30/6/16) for sending Passport in so 18 weeks and 6 days since interview.

OH offences were to do with cannabis possession which date back 17 years ago.
Very pleased with the timescale of the whole process, as he was told a 6 month wait by the Embassy, which i know was longer for people last year.
Will update when we have received the passport to let you know how long the Visa is for.

There is no way of tracking the application if it was at the London Embassy. I had my interview in March as well. But it looks like a ke things are speeding up if we look at some earlier posts.
