YouTube ad blitz

Re: YouTube ad blitz
I think the longest unskippable ad I have seen on YouTube is 30s, most are only 15s. In almost all cases if you can skip it is after only 5s, occasionally 10s.
I am still surprised that I have not noticed any advertisers who have made any serious attempt to get any sort of "hook" into those first few seconds, to discourage people from immediately skipping, ... OK, well apart from Caroline Jones.

I can assure you that every ad for the colon cancer detection procedure gets skipped as soon as I can click on the skip button. .... I am not always as diligent about skipping Caroline Jones ads.

Re: YouTube ad blitz
I haven't seen an ad on youtube in months, maybe 6 or more, adblock seems to be able to block them.
I have turned adblock off and multiple commercials within a video.
Turn adblock on and watch same video, no commercials.

Re: YouTube ad blitz
Probably we shouldn't block ads on BE.
Regarding YouTube.
Even the ones that you can skip will be influencing your subconscious.
Like Blipverts from Max Headroom.
Hopefully with less explody heads.

I had that issue last year (not just on here but other sites), I had to uninstall it and reinstall it and it worked again.

No, it's blocking them all, just not as many, which I guess is a good thing. It shows that in total it's blocked almost 125,000 ads just on this one computer I use at work. I'll have to check the one at home later and see how hard the adblock on that one has been working.

Re: YouTube ad blitz
An anecdotal update.
A few minutes ago I selected a YouTube Simon Whistler/Top Tenz Net video to watch which was just over sixteen and a half minutes long. The initial ad was Redemption, a full song video by Joe Bonamassa lasting almost 6 minutes. About four minutes into the SW/TTN video another ad started, this time a trailer for a film, that I didn't care to watch don't now remember and skipped after about 20s, but the ads run time was over three and a half minutes. After another four minutes another ad started, this time a rock instrumental featuring a guitar player but I did not recognize either the player or the song, despite my significant interest in guitar based rock of the last 50 years and watching to the end, but the video never said who the guitar player was, nor the name of the song - run time over four and half minutes.
So over all, YouTube offered me about 14 minutes of ads for a 16 and a half minute video. And yes, all the ads were skippable.

To be honest I download the videos, stick them on a ...stick, and then watch them on the telly.
Massive collection of music videos from 80's and 90's.
I have noticed a proliferation of ads that you cannot skip. But none more than about 30 seconds.
